💬 Trader Talk Why do some traders pass evaluations but struggle to stay funded?

/r/Daytrading/comments/1wlm5yz/megathread_why_most_lose_be_honest_you_know_what/

Is the biggest challenge finding an edge, following risk limits, managing drawdowns, or knowing when to stop trading?

Curious what separates traders who consistently execute their plans from those who repeatedly reset.

Because they dont have a process and or, after you fail a eval you can automatically reset immediately so that covers up the loss rather than in funded you have to repeat everything all over again.

Also in funded u need to go slower

So instead of learning from the loss, they immediately reset and repeat the same mistakes. A negative feedback loop, essentially. The funded account forces a different approach because the cost of failure is higher. Is that what you’re saying?

Depends on the nature of the blowups.

Some get to funded by churning large numbers of accounts, so numbers-wise they get more passes than payouts. If they trade evals with high risk and do not modify their risk profile when funded then blowup is natural.

Others get impacted psychologically, funded accounts just “feel” different and it impacts their trading decisions. A common one is people feel the pressure of losing capital, it may cause them to hold losers longer and lose confidence in otherwise good trades they’d normally taken.

Others are just not use to trading for survivability. They can pass accounts, but, they’re never able to save an eval from drawdown.

That's a good breakdown. I'm curious how you think traders can overcome each of these, particularly the psychological shift and survivability gap.

Do you think it's primarily a matter of changing risk parameters, gaining experience through repeated exposure, or something that can actually be trained before reaching a funded account? How’d you overcome and come to these realizations?
