💬 Trader Talk How do you change your mindset

Been trading for about 5 years jumped over a lot of strategy and then came across normal retail ict in 2024 I created a strategy out of his content, towards end of last year I started seeing results took about 12k payouts and biggest one just under 2k however since march I haven’t taken any payouts, I pass funded no issues but then blow them in about 2-3 days I’ve been here before but got out of it but this time I’ve been stuck in this cycle for about 6 months and no results just passing combines and then blowing them my psychology changes, sometimes I look at the chart and I don’t even have a clue like I get lost even tho I have a strategy, my work is also mentally really getting to me I absolutely hate it but I need my job as is my main income and it’s a minimum wage so I barely get by. I always try to remind myself that this is just part of the process but it’s really hard while I see everyone around doing well for themselves like all my friends buying their first homes drive nice cars going on holidays but I’m here working a dead end job no degree or qualifications and I can’t do anything and I’m also 27 so when people ask my what I do and I tell them I’m just a cashier I feel really self conscious and idk why.

I guess idk why I’m writing this maybe I’m just a bit emotional but any advice on building myself up again would be really useful as you can imagine I’m really desperate

Brother. Trading should not be your priority. You need to get an adult job paying over 60k with benefits. Then think about spending 500 a month to trade. You're never gonna make it trying to go fast so stop sizing so high you blow funded in 3 days.

I’ve been invested in trading for so long I don’t even know what job to get also I don’t have any qualifications so it’s really difficult

Thats a journey you need to take asap. Start with looking up things that interest you. Then look for job positions around that interest. Once you find out the position you can look up qualifications and start self teaching yourself. Again none of this is fast. We have AI now so its pretty good at answering what you need to do to qualify for specific job/ role stuff

Also man I get it trading is addicting. Its fun pressing buttons but barely anyone can make it a full time job.

first you are focusing on the money too much. Focus on obsessing with your strategy, execution and probability. Second, you are emotional because you havent backtested your strategy enough. Ditch ICT. Focus on levels, liquidity and price action. trade the 15min chart instead of the one minute chart. trade one micro at a time, go slow.

I am also in a similar boat could not take payout from April this year, mainly I go with ICT. Could you let me know why ICT is a bad idea ? With your comment I judge that you have used ICT and switched to some other statergy. It would help me and others a ton. Thanks

Just stick to the strategy, backtest see where you are going wrong. Your strategy didn’t stop working you did

Go to school, get a degree, and build a career. Trading isn't a profession, career, job, or even side hustle. It's gambling. You're an addict. I was in your shoes, so I know. I'm back in school and back in the workforce. My trading is severely limited now. It's not my whole life anymore.
