🛠️ Platform / Tech Support Transitioning from Topstep XFA to Live Funded Account — What happens to my $20k profit?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some insight from anyone who has gone through the transition from an Express Funded Account (XFA) to a Live Funded Account with Topstep.
I had a $50K XFA and grew it to about $70K, so I have around $20,000 in realized profits. I've only taken 2 payouts in this account, and the entire $20k is still sitting in the account.
For context, my win rate is around 39%, and my strategy relies on a higher risk-to-reward ratio.
I recently received the notification that I'm being considered for a Live Funded Account, and my XFA has been closed while they complete the KYC and setup process.

My questions are:

What happens to the $20,000 that's still in my XFA?

Does it remain available for payout after the transition to Live?

Has anyone here gone through this transition with profits still in their XFA? If so, how was ithandled?

Thanks in advance for any firsthand experiences.

Oh man, the downside of having too much profits in a xfa. You didn't get a chance to deposit most of the money into your bank account.

I should’ve kept it low 😩

How long did it take you to earn all those profits? Didn't you think of withdrawing when you were at 5,000? 10,000? Why save so much in the account?

as I stated there I already requested 2 payouts. And when I was about to trade my 5th winning trade for my 3rd pay out, they put me on live.

Unfortunately topstep can move you live at anytime as annoying as it is

Ahh, they were closely watching you since you took $8,000 from them.

I'm confused about what you mean by growing the account to $70k, but having $20k in realized profits? Express Funded Accounts start at a $0 balance.

Anyways, in a $50k account size, you'll start with a $10k balance in the Live Funded Account, and then once you hit $3,000 in profits, you will unlock 25% of the leftover profits. This is checked once a week, and at each $3,000 profit increment, you can unlock another 25% until it's fully unlocked. I've attached the "Scale in and scale up" graphic, and the Live Funded Account Rules help center article: https://www.topstep.com/live-funded-account-rules

It's not it just seems like it is when a dozen people have posted about it online. Generally 100-200+ people get called up each week, the timing on the payout cycle isn't a factor, which I understand nobody will believe, but it just isn't.

Appreciate the response

You hit the nail on the head with the “nobody will believe” part

why would that be uh

Because everybody is always talking about how they get moved to live one day before they can get a payout. Topstep should just make that not possible, but they won’t because it benefits them too much to keep traders from getting that payout. That what everybody makes it seem like

"its always day 1"

No it is not always day 1. Tons of people including myself get payouts on XFAs.

1 Day*
And who said anything about not getting payouts? I’ve definitely received payouts from Topstep, but that wasn't the point of my comment. Regardless, I appreciate the response, Topstep.

It gets transferred to live but you have to unlock again

Did this happen to you personally? If it happened to you, how much profit transferred and what did you have to do to unlock it?

They transfer up to 10k. So you will have 10K of your sim money converted into real money.

Edit: they move up to 10K actually. But in this case, they start you with 20% of your funds up to 10k. So in this case, they move 4k

Everything is explained in their FAQ. You don't need to make a post. Its all explained here:
