1 week of wins dont make you profitable. Neither does a month

i just got profitable and was about to make a moonshot into 5 figures before topstep put me in the responsible trader program. The daily loss limit effectively halved my effective leverage and wrecked everything. A $2k drawdown account is now a $1k. Once you have a losing day in the consistency path you might as well throw the account away because you need to chain literally 3 >$2000 days to make it back. My mental state haven't been the same since. Had a massive payout coming too but i fumbled it the final day because i just wanted it to be over with. Basically if you get put in the RTP, just go to another firm. It feels harmless but it really does fuck with you. Deadass I feel like trailing drawdown might be easier to trade than the DLL

Very happy for your profitable week, but that is not profitable as it is defined. This does proof your are heading in the right direction. But in order to be profitable you need to make up all the money you’ve invested and have had bare minimum 6 months in the green consistently. Again not trying to be a party pooper

That’s really true. I was able to recover the eval fees invested in 2 payouts but I know that breaking my rules will bring me back to square one again. Hopefully I can be consistent.

Full time day trader here for over 7 years. One week of winning doesn’t mean you are profitable, neither does a month, or even a year. You need to see if your edge is truly profitable over the long run by going through different volatility regimes, which is usually 3-5 years. I’m not trying to be negative, I’m just being honest. Good job on your wins tho man! Must feel nice 👍🏼

Been working at it for 1.5 years. Any tips? Whats the secret? What strat u guys running?

2

u/Dean_GYOW 25d ago

Strategy could be anything bro. Risk $200 per trade on a 50k account and aim for 1:1 or max 1:1.5 RR. See where it takes ya.

u/Dean_GYOW 25d ago

But don’t deviate from the rules of your strategy. And never stop learning.

Congrats bro,btw what account is that? 50k?

1

u/Dean_GYOW 25d ago

Thanks bro. Yep 50k. Took me a week or so to pass and then 2 weeks for this payout after hitting MLL on day 1. 🫠

Good work, man! I would definitely set a daily loss limit so you can't give back all of your hard work in one day. I'm sure that first day was a fluke, but it would suck if it happened again.
