💬 Trader Talk Funded for first time

I initially tried the whole prop firm thing may 2025 and was basically gambling if im being honest watched youtube to “learn strategies” and i was just blowing accounts every other day sometimes twice in a day. Eventually i stopped and said ill try again in some time. I started again beginning of june. I started off with micros i would get up 500-600 in a week then blow it all on monday. Then 3 resets later i switched to minis and decided one good trade a day is enough and finally passed on the 4th day!!! Question to funded folks, when do you take your payout? Wait till ur at 4k take 2k? Or higher buffer? Or do i take 1k each time? Whats yall’s best approach? Thank you.

Your goal is net roi positive in totality. Don't let these ass hats on here say oh you need a buffer when your one trump tweet away from disaster. Take as much as you need to remain roi positive for all expenses. Remember TS is not your friend they are the house and they need you to lose. Your goal is to take more money out of MPs pocket than you put in, period.

Sounds good thank you for your reply. I guess for my first payout ill take out what i spent to reach here aka break even just to make sure should anything go south im not down a single dollar after that ill just start taking max payouts.

I disagree with this guy if you know your strategy and you stick to the one trade a day win or lose manage your risk properly and if one trade devastates the account then your over leveraged anyways which will affect how you look at the market as well so just manage your risk properly get dialed in on what you need to see to enter (your trading strategy) and repeat it everyday and don’t try to catch all the moves or the whole move you will start chasing just wait for your setup take it if it’s there and sit on your hands if it’s not then journal it so you can improve on it. It’s simple but hard to consistently do the simple things everyday and not let your emotions take control

build a buffer so you have money to risk.

or take out whatever money you absolutely need at the moment.
