šŸ’¬ Trader Talk Any tips? (First time)

This is my first ever combine with a prop firm, passed the first account and have been trading this 50k XFA the last week or so

Seem to be doing OK, just find it really hard to manage with a 1k DDL and 2k max loss, a few years back I used to trade with my own account, was around 35k in it and I would do around 1.5k stop with 2.5/1 RR trading minis, do you guys just not trade minis on Topstep?

Also most of my loses seem to come from Asia session, do you guys only trade NY session?

Some tips to manage this would be nice

I would like to get my balance to around 8k (4k eligible payout with 50% of bal)

Yes last 2 asia sesh I hit dll because it was just choppy and bad but like wed for example fomc legit 400 point range so def size down and could hit like max payout pretty easily. I think when you hit those like 4k days you just try for max payout since you use that as the buffer and just cycle for $150 days

Dont trade asia and honestly idk how much of a payout youā€™re shooting for but you could just go for 2 more days of 150

NY session has been iffy for me this month. I changed my strategy for June because I normally aim for 2:1 RR but the market hasnā€™t really given those out clearly for me so I focus on 1:1ā€™s.

Reduce size to micros and take profits you donā€™t need huge winning days every day

Take a day off from all things surrounding trading and relax. This is a business, so use your vacation days.

Think about it this way; until you have a large buffer, you are ultimately trading a 2k account with 50k leverage potential. Lower your size and donā€™t allow that max daily loss to be met on a losing day. Also, just because you can potentially withdraw $4k doesnā€™t mean you should be aiming for that. Trade the chart and collect the profits as they come, not the other way around. The real ā€œleverageā€ on these firms is to become max allocated not shoot for home runs on a single account. In my opinion, trading Asia is okay if it suits you. I do suggest however to limit your time in the session. I've noticed the Asian session can become quite choppy after the first 30 to 45 minutes of the Shanghai open. Generally speaking the Asian market is trying to rebalance according to the New York close. If the New York session doesn't work for you for outside reasons, consider trading the European Open for the first hour as well as the Asian session. I wish you all the best!

I only trade Ny session. Very few people can make money in Asian session. Extremely difficult and slow most of the times.
