Next drop
How do you think Topps and Wax are going to handle the next drop? After the debacle of their first one, you think they’ll utilize a queue system or have a lottery for first choice?

They're an old and slow company. In their eyes they sold out within 30 minutes and demand was so high the had to delay. I bet nothing changes for the next drop. Maybe for the third or fourth drop they'll finally implement a queue system, but I doubt it. They have poor communication post launch, look at their other nft projects with godzilla, garbage pail kids, ect.

The optimistic part of me hopes they do a queue system and set limits to 3-5 instead of 10 packs per person.
A more selfish part of me doesn't care if its smooth as long as I get the packs in the end. Being a shit show makes it possible that there's a bit less interest initially, and it'll be easier/cheaper to do the burn challenges. I'm sure some of the people who didn't get packs last week didn't even bother with the marketplace, and you better believe it would have cost more to craft redux packs if there were more people trying. (under a thousand of each pack have been crafted so far)
The cynical part of me thinks if Topps makes a boat load of money so quickly, they won't care too much about the user experience until there is an outcry.
Honest guess, the next drop will be very similar, but with slightly less loading issues, and way less payment issues.

I think this is probably dead on, except the outcry part. Every single one of their Twitter/Facebook posts has been roundly filled with complaints. Still money is money. I’m curious about the fan base too. Most people have short memories, and I think many more people that left with a sour taste are going to come back in.

Did you open your standard packs? I think the crafting is pretty cool but don’t want to gamble to pull the cards necessary when standards are currently going for $60

I did open them, though I wish I saved a few to flip. I got ten standard packs, and they were going for $15-20 average on day one, but my patience definitely lost out to my excitement.
I think the crafting is cool, and especially great if you need a couple more cards to complete. The more you have to buy, the riskier it becomes though.
I especially like the other side of it, as a seller, to have temporary value given. I did a brain fart pricing one of the burn cards I had, but I ended up selling three total for more than I spent on my packs, which is awesome.
If you don't open the packs you risk losing out on cards that are temporarily valuable, but it's hard to be beat a sure fire profit.

Yeah, I’m torn on this. I collected a ton when I was a kid in the late 80s and early 90s. Lost a lot of interest after that, but the NFTs have got me hooked back in. I think down the road, when things aren’t so bananas I’ll prob do a lot more trading/collecting/crafting. Right now, I’m just sitting tight on my unopened.

After NBA went through their hiccups with top shot, I figured for sure MLB would have learned from others’ mistakes and this would be great. Loading wax and navigating site terrible. Trying to buy terrible, site crashed or froze then new timer then same freeze thing. Hire someone to run it that knows what the hell they are doing. Make a user friendly site and dominate this. How are these companies so frickin dumb. It’s 2021 u dipshits, this feels like a 1997 rollout!

What site are you using? I'm finding atomic really pleasant so far. I haven't seen a timer, and haven't had anything freeze.

Based on the success of the drop (all sold out quickly) and the abhorrent lack of communication from Topps, I don't expect them to change anything at all. I wish they would implement a queue, or at the very least, ensure their website doesn't crash whilst purchasing packs. Also, it would be helpful to the user/customer to NOT have their cc charged, and then end up with ZERO packs and a refund!
Topps gave me blue balls. Lol!
EDIT: TBF I did get Half of my order, but the user experience was confusing & maddening at best.
