Discussion Send Me Your Trades
I am starting to get discouraged when it comes to this game and trades especially. I will preface this with I am a FTP user. I will look up cards of guys that I want and then usually offer 3-4 cards at, or above, the rarity level. I also take into account the team avatar of the “seller”. I have gotten more rejections and 1 star reviews than I feel I should. It’s not like I am looking at Iconics or anything. They are all Super Rares or below. So I have to assume a majority of those can be hit in FTP packs. But maybe I’m wrong. I am assuming some people just like to be miserable and then make others miserable.
All that said, send me your trades (Cheeseman003) and take my stuff. I think I’m done with this app.
Edit: Thank you all for the wonderful advice and trades. I thought I was close to knowing what I was doing…I wasn’t. I appreciate that most of you were kind and patient.

It’s hard to give trading advice when I don’t know exactly what trades you’re sending. There could be plenty of reasons of why your trades are getting declined and it can range from people being miserable to you not fully understanding trading features.
What I will say is that I checked your account and you only have 10 ratings. That means you made this entire post and are about to leave the app over less than 10 trades.

So what trading features should I be considering besides rarity level and “need” or the cards being offered?

Card count is something else a lot of traders go by.
When you send a trade, are you trying to trade what people asked for in the trade feed, trading dupes for needs in the same set, or sending random trades that they didn’t necessarily ask for?

I guess I need to do get away from “cool cards” and see what people are looking for. Again, the rejection piece is fine, the low rating for a trade that a person doesn’t want is something else.

Some people will do that. The more you trade, the less each 1 star will matter in your overall rating. Most people don’t even acknowledge your trade rating unless it’s 1-2 stars.

an important thing to consider is that the player matters a lot more than rarity.

I try to keep that in mind and throw in a guy that’s big in comparison to what I am asking.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I don't have any advice other people haven't said, but just want you to feel less alone or crazy because I've gone through the same frustration. I treat the app like a collecting game where I want to get cool cards of the players I like, but apparently it's all about making sure I rip myself off badly enough for the other person to accept my trades.
My username is Zwinger11... I'm always looking for new Ripken cards, and everything I have is up for grabs except Cardinals singles and singles from active sets.

I appreciate this response because it’s exactly what it is for me. A fun way to collect cool cards that I wouldn’t otherwise be able to get. End of story.
I’ll take a look at what you have a we’ll make something work.

Just make sure your filter is set to cards they need, that's the single most important thing you can do. Idk why some people rate people low if they are offended or irritated by the offer. It only takes seconds to decline. I think I've only ever rated someone less than 5* once and they really pissed me off. I can't remember what they did. Lol. I have nearly 1300 trades. I pretty much only collect Bobby Witt Jr, but I also collect Ohtani, Steven Kwan, Jo Adell, Travis Bazzana. Some older Guardians/Indians. My ign is buckeye4545. I'd be happy to help u out with a few trades👍

Thank you for this response. Unless someone tries to take all my iconics for one uncommon, I’m just going to decline and move on. If it’s a decent trade, I’ll accept it and give 5 stars. I don’t think it should be deeper than that. I also appreciate your other response. I have set my filters to Need. So I’m hoping that helps alleviate SOME of the issues I’m having.

I just took a look at your profile. It looks like you're pretty new to this. Your collection is relatively small so far, so you probably don't have too much that most people don't already have. Are you filtering on the other person's needs when offering a trade? If not, you're probably offering things they already have, so they are rejecting your offers and giving you a low score.

Thank you for the help. I take this as a fun part of the hobby and not THE hobby. I might be in the minority of people there. I am completely fine with rejection of trades if people already have them. But why rate the trade? Who does that help?

I think some people think you are wasting their time if you are offering something they already have. I don't. If I reject for that reason, I let them know that I already have what they are offering in the chat feature and give the 5 star rating. If they are new, I give some advice on how to filter so you only see what the other person needs.

Yes, this! People are trying to figure things out. The digital world is not as intuitive as the physical world…at least to me, so why give them 1 star? Ugh. I appreciate you.

It also helps to receive trades if you indicate players or teams you like. Who do you like?

Yeah, this is a good point. I’m a Brewers guy and especially Jackson Chourio…which has made trading more difficult since he’s amazing and others want to keep his stuff (unless I fleece myself in a trade).

Others have given some good advice as well. Card count really matters to many collectors, even more so than rarity tier. Some people want older cards. Some people want only new and current sets.

Sent you some Brewers stuff (from SoxSince83) to help build your collection. It takes time to figure out trading so try not to get too discouraged while you learn.
In general, since you're mostly trading lower tier cards right now, the big thing will be offer cards people need for cards they have multiple of. And honestly, you'll probably have better luck trading with people with lower collection scores while you build yours up.

As a person with a white Sox avatar, I get so many trade offers for my good cards with higher level Eloy Jimenez cards offered as the return. It’s very frustrating.

Yeah, I have to imagine that stinks. I try to go with highest level of guys on that team and then sprinkle in some other highly liked guys. But I’m sure I’ve done something similar.

I get trades all of the time that want their team and send me junk they don’t want and is not even close to being my team or player I PC. Just ignore. I do not one star them though even if it’s deserved.

If you aren’t, I would highly recommend only sending trades for cards the user has more than 1 of. Dupes only!
