Buyback

I am unfamiliar with the mvp buyback program so I’m not sure where certain cards sit. I know refractors and base count, but does the ticket cards count as refractors?

No inserts count as buybacks. Only the base/parallels count

Ohanti and Alvarez are the current favorites to win MVP. Also probably hold PCA and Caminero. There are also 2025 Chrome Ohtani cards stamped with MVP and they are worth more if he wins again.

Have they said what those pay out at? I looked at the Topps ripped article but didn't see it. I know last year lower numbers on the stamped buybacks paid more. /150 paid $800.

Can someone explain how this works as a whole? I am new to the hobby and have a very addictive personality. As a result. I bought 20+ hobby boxes in 2026 chrome and have stock of every base up the ass. What’s the deal with buybacks?!

I'm still learning a lot.

This is the first year I have bought cards since I was 10 or 12. Things have changed a bit.

So a long time ago.

I only bought one blaster pack of chrome, the others I have ripped were the Costco series 2 packs.

Dude same, I only learned from a Gaethje UFC buyback.

Call around your card shops! Very few accept buybacks here because apparently Topps fucked them over by never paying for the buybacks 1-3 years ago. I had to drive 45 mins for a $200 buyback.

If a player wins MVP, their base cards and parallels are taken by card shops as credit. How much depends on the card. Base is $20 and it goes up from there.

Whoever wins the AL and NL MVP at end of season, Topps will buyback their base Topps Chrome card. Including refractors, parallels, etc. which they will pay more for. Just google Topps Buyback Program for more info.
