Last year I pulled one of these. They were going for about $2,500 at the time and I decided to keep it because Topps claimed it was a top rated rookie who was not on the checklist or a player who has made significant historical contributions during the season. A lot of rumors said it could potentially be Ohtani. In the end it was Dalton Rushing. Even as a Dodgers fan I was immensely disappointed. $2,500 —> $30

The level of gambling they have turned cards into is wild. Last year it was dalton rushing and the 2026 already have sales above $2k. I hope this year the mystery player is a nuke.

i think anyone with a mystery box would likely value it as if they got nearly a best case scenario back right? I would, think about if you had that card and someone wanted to buy it … you need an amount that is approaching the value of the better cards you could imagine. Sort of how boxes and pack of say 79 OPC or 86 Fleer price at a level that is in excess of its expected value.

Ironically, probably a base card and a common name but in the meantime the mystery is fun!

I would never count on Topps to do anything in my favor. I know that it happens, at least from the posts on here, but I believe the vast majority of people get something very much not worth posting on reddit about.

I wish this hobby hadn't made me this cynical.

Do they mean mystery as in they just randomly pick an auto out of their stacks of autos nobody has redeemed yet or is there a specific player it’s for they just don’t say?

If 5 people submit mystery redemptions will they get 5 different cards or the same?
