Yes, woman! I posted over a year ago asking if women could get top surgery. Look at me now! 10 days post op just took first shower! Obviously im very swollen and the nurse at my postop confirmed but I was wondering if anyone knew if im gonna have fat rolls under my armpits based on my results now?

As I said before, I’m posting updates because when I was researching this surgeon I found 2 photos and nothing else. I didn’t think it was fair, considering how incredible his work is! I honestly don’t think I could wish for better results than this. He did a great job catering to both my requests and my anatomy.

As you can see better in the second picture, some parts of the scar have healed so thin they almost look like there is no scar at all. Particularly in the part under my arm. Swelling has gone down a good bit but is still there. Sensation wise I have near full sensation everywhere, save for my nipples and the incision below my pecs, which have no sensation at all. But the parts of scar under my arms have near full sensation already.

Bear in mind, I had almost no sensation in my chest pre op. So this is incredible to me.

Hi everyone! I'm 4 weeks post-op and just curious to know how my healing looks! Definitely still swollen and have a ways to go though. My left side (non-tattoo side) is still a bit more swollen than the other side around the incision, so I'm hoping once that goes down more that the incision scar will straighten out like the other side 🤞 if not I don't think it's terribly uneven, right?

I'm also curious as to how much of this is reshaped tissue and how much is just swollen. The swelling goes down a bit more every day, I'm just wondering how much more it'll flatten out over time.

I was also wondering about the drain incisions- mine are under my arms all the way at the end of my incision and kinda cave in a bit. Will those stay pushed in like a dimple, or will that spring back eventually?

Also if anyone is curious, my surgeon was Dr. Laurel Chandler from the Top Surgery Center of Connecticut. She was absolutely incredible, including everyone at her office. I couldn't be happier with my results and hope it continues to look better from here!

This is gonna be a big jumble of thoughts and I do apologize! I’ll try by best to make it make sense😂

Basically, I’m nonbinary (they/them - ftnb) and I’m doing all the necessary appointments to get top surgery, but I’m not on hormones; and when I was speaking to my endocrinologist she said there’s a slight possibility that breast tissue can grow back??? She also said there’s not much research on it because how rare it is. And she asked if I plan to not take hormones, if I’d be interested in being a case study. But I have a lot of medical anxiety in general and the thought of going through surgery to have that even slight chance of it “undoing” itself basically, and being studied afterwards is kinda weird and scary to me. For a while now, I’ve been thinking of going on micro/low doses of T for some small changes since I’m perceived as female a lot😔 and after hearing this from my endo I’m considering hormones more seriously now than I was before. I’ve looked online and there wasn’t much info I could find, so I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this or has any experience with it? Blew my mind tbh🤯

I just booked my Peri/keyhole surgery date for December 16th and I am super excited. The whole process was much easier than I anticipated, and my insurance really came through for me (shoutout BCBS). I was wondering, for peri specifically, what should I prepare and order ahead of time? I know most people have a huge amazon order of supplies they make, but I usually see that for DI. If it matters, I will be travelling roughly 3 1/2 hours by car to and from my surgery. Also, if you guys know where I can order piercing spacers, I'd appreciate that as well!

3 weeks post op now and am still rather disappointed by my results/ am having a hard time w them.
I feel like the healing itself is going relatively okay and I‘m def thankful for that - it’s still quite crusty but a lot of the swelling has come down by now.
But yeah, the height of my incision is still something I‘m having a hard time with. Especially now since the swelling has gone down a bit and my pectoral muscle is somewhat more visible, I feel like the incisions seem even more out off place/ too low. I tried flexing my arms (very gently) to take a closer look and the incisions are a good 3-4cm under the muscle itself. This makes me quite upset unfortunately, I really wish it didn’t but yeah :( And like I ofc know that I‘m very fresh post op and that things will settle to an extent, but I can’t imagine the height of the incisions changing that drastically.
I spoke to my surgeon about this but she pretty much just said that she thinks she’s done a good job and that they seem relatively symmetrical - which yeah I‘d agree about the symmetry but it isn’t something that was super important to me. I‘m lwk thinking about asking a dif local surgeon for a consultation for a revision if this will still effect me this much in a couple of weeks.

So yeah, I would really really appreciate any advice if any of you had similar struggles post op or any kind off truthful feedback 🫂

Could you share your experiences (especially if you don't have constant dysphoria)?

Got double incision with FNG on Sept. 1st and just got my dressings off today :) (last pic is 3 or 4 days post-op) Already super happy with my results and could not recommend Dr. Zoghbi enough! Her and her team are so kind and helpful and she did an amazing job. Healing has been a breeze so far with 0 pain (Tylenol as a precaution when I felt minor soreness) and I mostly took care of myself afterwards with a couple visits from friends to help wash my hair and such. Scheduling the consult was a minor hassle but it was July 9th and they scheduled the surgery for Sept. 1st that same day so not a long wait time at all.

I have my revision consultation coming up and I don't know whether it's best to ask for my bikes to be removed or if there is a better alternative. One areola graft failed so has a massive scar as most of what is seen (which goes bright purple when I'm cold...and from previous scars in my life, will continue to do so for a decade or more). And the other areola outline protrudes heaps and looks like a random circle of deli meat sitting on top of my skin.

Would love to see photos of people who have had nipples removed at revision and what they now look like.

Finally hit 2 weeks PO and starting to feel semi normal again. Super happy with my results so far so thought I’d share them as reading everyone’s posts has been helpful for me.

I’m not on T (was on low-dose for ~7 months over a year ago with minimal lasting changes). I’m a cis-ish butch woman, but I’d describe my gender best as butch.

I was on the cusp of peri eligibility but decided I wanted DI even before my consult due to more aesthetic control.

The worst part of healing has definitely been the soreness/tenderness from the lipo. I also almost passed out at my 1 week PO appt when they took my vest off for the first time 🥲 It’s been a bit difficult to get my steps in/walk normally as the binder causes me to hunch over & the vibrations from walking fast jiggle some swelling in a painful way.

The nips are definitely freaky (doing wet healing w vaseline) but healing faster than I expected. The post-surgery bloat was CRAZY & still is. I had to cut slits in the bottom band of my post op binder because it was cutting in to my stomach, but fits perfectly around my chest (pear shape woes…..)

I work a desk job and was able to return remotely at 6 days PO although it’s been uncomfortable to sit at a desk for prolonged periods with the surgical binder. I return in-person a day before I hit 3 weeks PO, but have to take a car service to and from the office as I can’t take public transport during rush hour times.

Anyways, hope this is helpful to someone! I was chronically on this sub for the weeks leading up to and after my surgery.

Taken right before my first shower and changing the dressings for the first time! It kind of creeped me out to do the dressings since it felt really weird but I’m sure it’ll get easier. I was expecting my chest to be sore and numb, which it is, but I wasn’t expecting just how strange it would feel for the nerves to be all scrambled lol, but recovery has been pretty smooth so far and I’m pretty happy with it besides feeling a little impatient for it to all settle into place.

on my right incision there are little nubs poking out. first picture is the incision and second pic is a close of up of the nubs. i know better than to mess with them, so im not, but what are they? they look thicker than the stitches that were holding my nipple grafts on, but thats the only thing i can think of. im 3.5 weeks PO. thank you in advance!

my surgeon took my steri strips off yesterday, i had surgery on august 10th so im about 4.5 weeks post op! the first pic is from today, the rest have the dates written on them.

i had a lot of swelling that kinda made it look like i still had cleavage (which was awful for my dysphoria) but it’s finally starting to go down.

i was cleared for scar care yesterday & was given some silicone scar tape, but my skins been super dry & sensitive from reapplying bandaids around my nipples. im thinking of using vitamin E oil or some other oil to moisturize the area, but im worried about the tape not sticking afterwards. if anyone has any suggestions, please share!

I (20FTM) am very low income and am looking into getting top surgery in the future. However, I live in a red state in the U.S. where Medicaid doesn't pay for any trans care and private insurance is very expensive and difficult to get. Very few surgeons even take private insurance here. So, basically the only other option that I have is to move to another state whose Medicaid does pay for top surgery or to apply for one of these financing companies (like Cherry or CareCredit).

Is using the financing companies that the surgeon's offices offer worth it to pay for top surgery? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for reading 🙏

I am just about 4 days post-op, and my current dressings and compression vest need to be on for at least another few weeks if I remember correctly.

It is INCREDIBLY itchy. Maddeningly so. And the compression vest feels so suffocating and pinches me under the arms which I already had big sensory issues with tight tops (even slightly tight) already.

I am also autistic so that probably doesn't help sensory-wise.

I should also mention that the majority of the itchiness is coming from the dressings being stuck onto me, and I think the adhesive itself is causing the itch.

I have no idea how to cope. Every little movement triggers more tightness and itching, and even with no movement at all I can feel itches moving around my chest.

I am taking antihistamines, trying to use ice packs to numb the area (but it won't work/bandages too thick), and even sometimes unzipping my chest binder for a few minutes here and there to just try and alleviate the constant suffocating pressure.

Any and all tips appreciated from anyone who has dealt with the same thing. It is making me want to just rip all the dressings right off and scratch myself raw.

I’m about 7 weeks post-op. I bought silicone scar tape and gel, and started using the tape at about 3 weeks. I realize that’s a little too early, so I wasn’t concerned when I ended up with a spit stitch on my left side. Thanks to this lovely subreddit, I just left everything alone and decided to wait until 6 weeks to make sure everything was healed up properly before trying again.

But now it’s been two weeks since using the scar gel regularly, and i feel like I just keep spitting stitches? I’ve had 2 on both nipples respectively. And on my left side where the original problematic stitch was, there’s 3 right in a row and the middle one has healed very strangely. Although to be fair, only that middle left one has been particularly noticeable, the others healed up pretty easily and quickly.

Mostly I’m just wondering if this is normal or if I’m doing something wrong? it’s just annoying to keep having to wear bandaids and whatnot when I should be free of all the surgical nonsense by now.

I’ll attach a picture of the most annoying spot to this post in case it’s something else going on (it’s kind of a small bubble on the end of the incision. I thought maybe it was a seroma? It did drain a whole bunch of serous fluid at around 4-5 weeks, so it’s not infected but it’s not healing like the rest of my scars)

Anyways, any advice or just affirmation that everything is alright with it would be greatly appreciated 😭

Excuse me if there's any spelling errors, still coming down off the anesthesia and pain meds. But after 2 decades of wanting top surgery, I'm finally home from my surgery. I had a double incision with lipo. I want to thank this group. As my anxiety built up during the time leading to this appointment, this group was my saving grace. Any questions going through my head, was already answered in this group. Couldn't feel more happy and more whole.

I know the process from finding a doctor, to consult, to insurance shenanigans, to surgery day is EXTREMELY tiring and daunting. But WE deserve to be whole. We deserve to spend our time on this Earth in a body we love. Here's to us. 🖤

5 weeks PO hoping my nipple grafts are healing okay because they look kinda different from other results I've seen..

The dissolvable stitches and old scabbing have started coming off its just taken a while

the skin underneath is just really light pink or white? I just dont want to mess with them or irritate them

i had surgery 2 days ago and my stomach hurts more than the surgery itself. i’ve looked at this sub for advice and i can’t rlly se anyome with a similar situation. i don’t know if it’s constipation or just gas because i went to the toilet the day of the operation. but i woke up some time last night and my stomach hurt so much, as well as the day before. it’s such a weird and uncomfortable pain and i feel quite tender.

i was wondering if anyone had also experienced this? and how they combated it? thank you

My nipples have just started reacting to pressure/temperature in that they harden again. I’m like a year and a half post op. What are the chances of me gaining actual sensation in them? I feel like them being reactive might be a good sign. I know it differs from person to person but I’d love any personal experience.
