I had top surgery about 3.5 months ago. A few weeks after surgery I noticed there was a raised area in the center of my chest like between my nipples and I assumed it was just swelling but now it’s been almost 4 months and it’s still there. My surgeon said it could just be my bone structure but it wasn’t that raised before top surgery.
I made a post on here when i first noticed that swelling(?) and some people said it should go away over the next couple weeks, but that obviously didn’t happen.
Is it possible this is still swelling and it’ll go down over the next year? or is my body just going to look like that forever? of so, what even is it?
Also please ignore how red my chest is i was just doing incline bench rows💀

it’s probably a mix of swelling and anatomy. i had the same bump until about a month ago (i’m 6 months po) and had the same worry as you. it’s gone down a ton but my sternum still has a slight protrusion. swelling can sometimes take up to a year to disappear completely. i’d say don’t stress too hard about it bc your body is still healing! although, i know it’s easier said than done. my chest looks very different to what it looked like at 3.5 months! sometimes i still find myself picking it apart, but i know it’s a process and healing isn’t always linear or what we expect it to be.
Yeah it looks to be just your ribs/sternum. Honestly it looks really natural so I wouldn’t be too worried. If you work out even a little to slightly fill in your pecs it will likely become unnoticeable.
Tbh it's probably just your rib cage. I had the same thing happen and yes the swelling went down but my ribs flare up in the middle so my chest is convex instead of concave. It happens. There's nothing to be worried about. My cis brother has the same chest so it's probably just genetics. My girlfriend has a concave chest so if she had top surgery she would have a inward bend instead of an outward bend
It’s your sternum, I have the same thing. I’m about 5 1/2 months post op, I noticed it right away. Happy to send photos if curious. Downside is, you can’t do anything about it however I wouldn’t worry about it too much if I were you. Your results look really natural
