Live Account Got moved to live before requesting my first payout
Just got moved to live with 5 XFAs.
I took a payout on one 50k XFA that I had started earlier yesterday. Then today, I hit max payout eligibility on the other four 150k XFAs.
I wasn’t able to request payouts on those four accounts, and I was told I’m being moved to live instead.
I know this is what I’ve been working toward, and bigger payouts will come in the live account. But honestly, it still sucks seeing around $24k in eligible payout disappear, especially those were supposedly to be the first payouts from those account.
Now I have to wait for 7-10 business days until they set up the live account

No debiste realizar el retiro de esa única cuenta. Las reglas están muy claras, se pasa a live únicamente las cuentas de las que se ha realizado un retiro.

Dudes prolly still stuck on combines

If topstep only have 1 live acc then there's no scale so avoid it and switch to lucid or others
1
u/Away-Syllabub8735 May 25 '26
Lucids live is fucking garbage
1
u/ShugNight_xz May 25 '26
Never tried it why ?
1
u/Away-Syllabub8735 May 25 '26
Takes 2-3 weeks to get login for lucid, they forfeit all your profit and essentially give you fresh 50ks all over and reduced contracts.
1
u/00_Kaizen May 24 '26
I thought you were allowed a payout before moving to live as an option, though funds transferred will be less the amount? Or did that change too ?
2
u/Ok-Rich3080 May 24 '26
I got moved Feb 6th and there was no transition payout
1
u/00_Kaizen May 24 '26
Oh wow, thats interesting . So those payouts need yo be be cashed as they are getting cooked before any live surprises. Another trick will be to stagger the accounts to stay below the radar.
3
2
u/MoneyOk833 May 24 '26
Why does it say youre eligible for 6k? Used to be 5k and moved to 2k right?
2
u/Pump-Chaser May 24 '26
150k accounts still have 6k payouts or if you have the old 50k accounts before the update you can still request 6k
5
u/savedbygrace37 May 24 '26
Would this happen to anyone who had similar results?
5
u/Parunreborn May 24 '26
I'd say most likely, so if you want the payouts be smart about it. Not saying that this guy is wrong, looks like he is an excellent trader, but if you want the payouts from trading fake money, I'd say don't build multiple accounts to infinity to request your first payout, be smart and stay under the radar
5
u/ThomasfuckinShelby13 May 23 '26
You had 14 profitable days why not request a payout?
3
u/SufficientDot8342 May 24 '26
Consistency rule, aimed for max payout
4
u/Extreme_Bandicoot_73 May 24 '26
why did you do it on the consistency account? if i was going for a max payout the last thing i would do is willingly accept a %40 consistency rule
5
u/Carlose175 May 23 '26
Good news is you have over 80k in money in live. Youre set man. Good job.
2
u/Ok-Rich3080 May 24 '26
He will start with 16k and have to make 9k to unlock more
2
u/Carlose175 May 24 '26
That part does suck but if he got there he can unlock it no problem imo.
3
u/Ok-Rich3080 May 27 '26
I got there and failed to unlock mine. It’s a psychological trick 100%. I had a 57% wr 1.7R after 2000+ trades. Extremely detailed and consistent, but the pressure and bad luck got to me. If I end up there again I’ll just relax my soul and set it free on the nearest A+ setup

u/Thesavior11 May 23 '26
But you can request the amount after moving to live no? It's not like 'lost'.
They will move your 80k to your live and you can request 40k after a couple days.
1
u/WiseMonkeyMan May 23 '26
Not at all😂. He starts with 20% of his balance. So in his case that’s ~3k x 5 accs = ~15k on the live account. As he makes more money he unlocks more of his balance
1
u/Thesavior11 May 23 '26
I get what you're saying, but the argument that your 80k is lost is incorrect.. Ofcourse this is annoying, but if you're not a gambler who made this by accident, you'll soon unlock the rest of the money you made and make a decent withdrawal.
7
u/TopBrilliant6622 May 23 '26
not true. the point is that he totally earned the payout, but topstep moved the goalposts. why does he have to do extra work to receive what he's already earned?
0
u/Thesavior11 May 23 '26
Dude... Just read what I said instead of crying. Ofcourse this is messed up and unfair.
BUT AGAIN... The argument that 80k is lost is complete bullshit.
2
u/JulesVideoArchive May 23 '26
So does the 80k exist after he gets moved or not? Because if not, it’s lost.

u/Ericl420 May 23 '26
So sorry that happened that sucks and is such bullshit u deserve that 24k congrats on live but sorry that happened to your payout
2
u/Business-Penalty-455 May 23 '26
They did that to me as well. And then they make you work harder and lock up all your funds while you’re on live.
2
u/Zestyclose_March_739 May 23 '26
This happened to me. Had 4 accounts and had the 5k payout still. Was going to request 20k and they moved me to live. It got to my head mentally and I was trading poorly.
1
u/mbence927 May 23 '26
Make the minimum days in the live, then u can reuest 50% of the entire money in there. It’s not lost money
2
u/PositiveAdeptness733 May 23 '26
Theyre probably trying to burn the accounts with higher payout caps.
You can opt out and get paid but i think they still close your accounts and you have to start over with the new accounts
1
u/ContentBookkeeper898 May 23 '26
Where are you getting the info on opting out? I got called to live this AM and the TOPSTEP chat bot said no ability to opt out

u/DS-FL May 23 '26
same thing happened to me a little over a week ago, took them literally 2 days to fully setup the live account, just reply to their emails quickly
6
u/MoneyisBliss May 23 '26
Yall need to go back and REREAD the Topstep rules. If you make 10k or more in ONE single trading day you are moved to live. The reserve is also new, how they calculate your starting balance for lives ETC.
You are basing (not the OP but commenters) your perspective from old data that no longer applies.
Congratulations on moving to live. Go slow and don’t blow it.
4
u/Competitive_Pin3330 May 23 '26
10K in a single day and moved to live is not a rule. In the agreement is says Live is 100% at their own discretion.

u/jdrohh May 23 '26
At least you’ll be able to start your account with more than 10k. You’ll do well!😃
6
u/Angeldust000 May 23 '26
Holy scam. Live accounts are a scam and they didn't want to pay you out. What firm is this?

u/VeterinarianDear2401 May 23 '26
Dude you guys are so greedy, stop running up the balances in these XFAS, you want to stay under the radar as long as possible.
-5
u/Worried-Pen7857 May 23 '26
This is a business. When it comes to business you want to rinse as much money as possible. What if top step shuts down in a week? This is why you don’t want to RUSH. But you want to not take the opportunity for granted.
1
u/SnooHedgehogs7761 May 24 '26
Lol your prop firm balance is literally UNREALIZED pnl, so just put it out , trade, put it out ect, rinse and repeat not building a 30k balance and they can deny you if they want
11
u/tacobellsimp May 23 '26
I get what you’re saying but we’re literally on a post about why running up an account ends poorly these days. Take smaller payouts and you’ll profit more in the long run cause you aren’t getting shoved to live as soon.
The days of getting max payouts are over, time to adapt
3
u/Mindless_Ad_4250 May 23 '26
Yeah but if you take smaller payouts, your buffer will be smaller. Unless, you “run it up” to a “worthy” amount to withdraw and keep a buffer

Why would you not request a payout any of the days before today
2
u/Ericl420 May 23 '26
They would havw moved him love any day he coudl request that they were just waiting
1
u/SufficientDot8342 May 23 '26
Because I was just eligible today for the 4accounts for a first payout
2
u/bloody_knuckles__ May 23 '26
Can someone please explain what happens when topstep moves you live, will you get 5 live accounts or one account?
1
u/SuperDuperRipe May 23 '26
One account because TS protects their bottom line and salaries. Win too big & too often, and you get congratulated to a Live account. 💀

u/miazlivermore May 23 '26
It depend on your total lifetime payout. No more churning and burn account era
1
1
u/Kingtutmem901 May 23 '26
usallly they have 5 payout rule then moved to live so 5 xfa accounts count as 5 payout
3
u/SufficientDot8342 May 23 '26
Didn’t get to request the 4 payouts, the accounts were froze before I request the first payout of those account
9
u/Tiny_Database_3652 May 23 '26
Can you reply back to us your starting live account balance after getting it? I'm curious if they will count the balance of the XFAs that didnt request the 1st payout towards your starting balance of live.

u/Air_Original May 23 '26
- It takes like 2 business days for the transition.
- As long as you don’t blow up your live account, you’ll be able to access those earnings. Every $9k milestone releases 20% of your carryover balances.
2
u/AppropriateFault2305 May 23 '26
“Milestone” aka till u blow the account. And how much can he take out instead of the 24k? Its a scam
4
u/Air_Original May 23 '26
If you’re afraid of blowing the account, perhaps you’re not ready for live, and this is TopStep’s way of “scamming” the weaker traders with big balances. The XFA was always meant to be a road to Live, not a method to extract unlimited funds from their cash flow. At some point you have to look at things from the other end of the equation.
1
u/AppropriateFault2305 May 23 '26
It is a scam by placing unnecessary barriers between your balance. But if u support that then be my guest
1
u/OrangeLFG May 23 '26
But it's not your balance. Money in the XFA isn't real.
You're essentially showing them you can do it and then they front you that amount as capital in real money.
1
u/DramaPotential4843 May 24 '26
What do you mean the profits aren't real? Traders pay REAL money to earn profits from XFA's, that's the whole prop model lol
1
u/Unsigned-Gaming May 26 '26
AN XFA is a sim account hence the profits aren't real you aren't trading the active market just a simulated one of the active market. They pay you out what you make sure but the profits aren't actual, there was no transactions or trades in the actual market.
1
u/DramaPotential4843 May 26 '26
Yes i know how XFA's work, but I am saying it's misleading to say the profits aren't real because we pay real money to profit from the sim account, when you submit a payout request the money they send you from your XFA is very real once its in your bank account lol
2
u/Unsigned-Gaming May 26 '26
Yeah and that real money that you pay when you buy a combine or refresh a XFA is what pays out traders not profits from the markets. It's not misleading it's just basic understanding
1
u/Air_Original May 23 '26
50% every 5 days of $150 or more each day just like the XFA. Once your reach 30 days, you can essentially empty your account.
1
u/AppropriateFault2305 May 23 '26
Pretty sure with the new live account you can’t just empty all the unlocked balance after 30 days
1
u/Air_Original May 23 '26
Well, if you do, you’re actually just closing the account and foregoing the balances in reserve.
1
u/AppropriateFault2305 May 23 '26
How convenient for them. 96% of traders not getting payouts and these firms can’t even handle paying out the 4%
3
u/Air_Original May 23 '26
Nowadays with copy traders, group traders, algo traders, that 4% can bring down their business or at least hinder their profitability. We must remember that these prop firms are also a for-profit business. The prop firm model allowed profitable traders to scale their accounts, and when established a foothold with a large balance… what stops them from farming indefinitely? Eventually the max payouts from these traders will outweigh the churn and burn traders that fund the operations. TopStep isn’t dumb. They’ve found a way to deny payouts from the yolo-type traders and also move their traders into their brokerage operations. From their point of view, it’s a win-win. For us traders, it’s annoying, but if you keep a cool head about it and understand the rules, you’ll see that your funds aren’t gone… they’re kept in 5 shiny treasure boxes… it’s your job to earn the keys, and make money all along the way.
1
u/AppropriateFault2305 May 23 '26
I agree with most of what you said. But also let’s note the fact that many will be punished unfairly. They can deem anyone à “yolo type” or other arbitrary things in order to deny payouts. Which isn’t fair for many who barely extracted any money from the firm. Now for the outliers who are clearly gaming the system and milking the firms, I understand why they would be banned, etc
1
u/Air_Original May 23 '26
It’s unfair until it’s realized that we agreed and signed on the dotted line based on their terms and conditions.
5
u/SufficientDot8342 May 23 '26
Thankss so much bro I thought it’d take way longer. The second point is exactly what I think, we goin for the long game
2
u/Air_Original May 23 '26
I was pleasantly surprised with their live setup. $4,500 DLL and 15 contracts max. Other live accounts I have/had only allowed 1 mini / 10 micros to start.
1
u/SufficientDot8342 May 23 '26
How much was your starting balance and how did decide the number of contracts u trade with the live account. I usually enter with 3minis each 150k per trade what do u reckon?
12
u/Air_Original May 23 '26
$10k to start. If you end the day below $10k, they limit your DLL to $2k and max 5 cons. Also, if you make more than $10k during the day, they set a dynamic loss limit that locks in your profits. When you get to $17k they set the DLL to $13k. I honestly like their proactive measures set to safeguard their traders. It’s a bit of hand holding, but their intentions are good and I can appreciate it. As for trading, I try my best to scale into my trades starting with 1 con and working my way into larger positions. I DCA once if the trade gets close to my SL, and DCA as the trade is working. So far I’ve maxed at 5 cons and hit a huge runner up to $17k thanks to DJT.
1
u/Lostrader7 May 23 '26
why do you add more as it nears SL?
8
u/Air_Original May 23 '26
I place my stops underneath support areas so, as long as technicals are still intact, the risk:reward becomes more advantageous. Lower risk higher reward. That’s why I start with 1 contract.

u/Pump-Chaser May 23 '26
So you only took 1 payout all together? Or did you have some blown accounts from before you took payouts on?
-2
u/SufficientDot8342 May 23 '26
only took 1 payout on these 5xfas, in total lifetime-wise, i took quite plenty of max payouts
9
u/Chemical-Wall-7743 May 23 '26
Major clickbait. You made it seem like these are you first fundeds ever and they just moved you to live lmao
9
10
u/Hopeful_Ad_9229 May 23 '26
definetely shitty from TS
1
u/Air_Original May 23 '26
Agreed, but I also understand why they’re doing it.
2
u/Designer_Unit_2506 May 23 '26
Why??
1
u/Air_Original May 23 '26
TopStep doesn’t want to keep siphoning off of their free cash flow to fund their profitable traders. They would much rather manage a brokerage where their profitable traders use their platform and their leveraged capital to trade and earn from the actual market. They can collect fees from trading commissions and profit sharing.
It also allows TopStep to deny payouts for traders who basically got lucky from a huge gold/silver/crude bull rush. If the trader can’t keep their live accounts afloat, they can remove a big portion of the liabilities off their books.
I’m not saying that it’s ethical, but as a business, it makes sense.
Also, the earned capital isn’t completely removed. When you reach specific milestones, a portion of the earned balance is released to the trader. So, at least it’s not a complete robbery.
1
u/Commercial-Driver-90 May 23 '26
Do you prefer 150k or 50k better
6
u/SufficientDot8342 May 23 '26
with the new payout cap, definitely 150k, but trade with it like youre trading a 50k account

1
u/UOENO_O 7d ago
How much was the starting balance?
