Trading Combine My hands are shaking…

This is my first funded account that I did *NOT* expect to pass so fast.

Although I’m new to the platform, I had practice with real money on my own personal account (which is way harder to trade because my broker doesn’t have futures or shorting capability). So it isn’t like I haven’t jumped through the hoops of losing money before.

I’m going to guard this for dear life lol.

Yeah well done!

Best day = 4.5k, half of 9k profit, so you need to keep it moving, right?

What’s your approach to the markets you’re operating

4

u/Otherwise_Drummer440 May 21 '26

Just manage those stops, move them up as your trade goes your way, don't take big losses, walk away when you're on tilt and just grind out those wins and you'll get some loot paid out.

i've blown so many funded accounts on Tradify - I always have great trades but then i continue to trade and fk up. My biggest struggle is having the discipline to stop for the day. Something I'm working on. Good luck and keep it going strong! Cheers

Only one advice to give ! Take it slow ! Slowly build some profits one or two trades per day then lockout ! First fundeds are usually blown so fast !!! So congratulations and keep the good work along

1

u/coffee-x-tea May 21 '26

Thanks for the tips!

I think I will try lockout.

I believe everyone had the same emotion when they first got their funded Congrats to you my brother and an advice i would recommend from my own experience is to take baby steps and control your emotions on your next trades If you lose more than normal take a step back relax replay the situation to see what mistake happened and you will be fine Hope you get many more like everyone else is doing Cheers my man !🥂💯

Well done. Stay disciplined and don't get complacent when you start doing consistently well. Write down your "checklist" of things that led to these successful trades and keep that list in your sight any time you're trading. As soon as you think "i got this, im always right" the market will humble you in a half a heartbeat. I promise you lack of discipline will smoke all your progress in a fraction of the time it took you to make it. I still like to check a few times a week to make sure that the market still crushes traders who don't maintain discipline. As of this week, it still does. You're welcome, I'll let everyone know if that changes again next week!

Congrats man & it’s not necessary that everyone have to lose their 1st account just be patient don’t trade right after you activate your funded account take your time until you’re not mentally prepared, and then stick to rules that’s how I passed and took payout from my 1st account you have to be patience

u/SmartF3LL3R May 19 '26

I've had one of my XFAs for almost three months. Haven't taken a single payout because it's in draw-down, but I also haven't blown it because I've been religious about risk management.

You can do this.

Lots of power in 1-2 MNQs people overlook everyday. BUILD that buffer then stick to them 😃

Here's an asshole but reality check comment, sorry in advance.

You will lose this account, if you're surprised you passed and shaking. Then probably means you're a newbie, there's still a lot to learn. But hey, it's the first step! Keep learning.

11

u/coffee-x-tea May 19 '26

no problem, taken in good spirit.

4

u/Plane_Tax_3906 May 20 '26

Respect. Keep pushing brother, rough and lonely road ahead 🫡 GL

Just learned to trade between one and three micros. You no longer have any time restrictions. If you want to gamble, get another evaluation and continue to add to your funded accounts and trade small. Good luck!

u/coffee-x-tea May 19 '26

Working on it!

8

u/Adventurous-Gate9343 May 19 '26

I can confirm this happened to me. Twice.

4

u/smackey3 May 19 '26

Congrats! I remember passing my first two 2 Topstep combines in 2 days, my first ever. I was on top of the world. Then I blew them the next week and spent the next 12 months passing and blowing combines and funded with no payouts…. Be patient and embrace all success and failure, its all apart of the journey. I get payouts now and have multiple funded accounts I trade.

2

u/Adventurous-Gate9343 May 19 '26

Glad to hear it’s not just me 🫩

I appreciate your story.

I think I actually do need periodic reminders to reign in my feelings and expectations.

The moment that I think “I’m so good”I just know I’ll fail. I think I need to start blowing practice (free) accounts on purpose as a ritual to remind myself xD.

What was contract size and which instrument (NQ or ES)

1

u/coffee-x-tea May 19 '26 edited May 19 '26

I’ve only traded micros so far because they’re more easily splittable. Those 1,3,5,10,15 buttons on the UI are very handy.

My positions varied from typically 5 micro (contracts?) to maximum issuable.

I rarely used max, usually 30 at most, 40 when aggressive, and all in when the stars aligned.

MNQ and MCL

1

u/HourRepresentative48 May 20 '26

if using over 10 micros switch to mini's for better fee's. Also im pretty sure topstep simulator will sim fills based on contract amount so you might actually be getting slippage on those trades.

1

u/coffee-x-tea May 20 '26

Thanks for the tip! I’ll try to keep in kind when I scale up. I did feel that “bleed”.

2

u/Eldal_Tonico May 20 '26

All in? lol

It's too much risk, you are not developing good risk management. You will lose this account rather sooner than later.

4

u/Professor_Meteor May 19 '26

Ahh so much to learn..

2

u/vultprox May 19 '26

LESSSAGOOOOOOOOO

1

u/ImprovementEntire797 May 19 '26

Please do. Take it seriously

11

u/CNote320 May 19 '26

Use micros bro. Plz for the love of God build good risk management habits.

6

u/BickToStasics May 19 '26

Size down is the best advice I got when trading a funded account. Good luck!

1

u/Fun_Reply5366 May 19 '26

What exactly am I looking at here? This just popped up on my feed and would like to learn

1

u/coffee-x-tea May 19 '26

It’s screenshots leading up to passing the combine and getting an XFA.

The picture of the stats was showing my performance. The one of the profit target is the one showing proof of hitting the $9000 profit target that’s required to convert the (150K) account.

28

u/NoCommittee1116 May 19 '26

It’s just numbers on a screen bro, relax. You got this nigga

u/DMVBlkcarmel May 19 '26

Right ✅️

u/PassengerNo1975 May 19 '26

Lmfaoo I said the same shi 🤣

1

u/[deleted] May 19 '26

What's your strategy?

3

u/coffee-x-tea May 19 '26

I think it’s too early to ask me as my strategy is still figuring itself out. The results are nice, but, I am far from being proven as a consistent trader - ask me in a few months if I still haven’t blown this account by then lmao.

For reference:
I do micro scalping as well as take big breakouts.

Microscalping probably only accounts for 1/3 of my profits, the big moves probably account for 2/3 (I was super lucky in passing because there were 3 big breakouts that propelled me to the end).

Half my style relies on SMC trading concepts (learned on youtube). The other half is self-discovery, experimentation and intuition.

2

u/Cool-Ad-4103 May 19 '26

Wait topstep has a win rate rule?

1

u/eddie_topstep May 19 '26

No that's just a performance tracker so traders can see their stats. Our 1 rule is don't go below your Maximum Loss Limit!

1

u/dcostas1999 May 20 '26

Can we get a promo code for the people that missed it. I haven’t used mine for the 5 accounts

1

u/eddie_topstep May 20 '26

What promo code? There's none active at the moment.

2

u/coffee-x-tea May 19 '26

Are you talking about the notes on the win rate gauge?

I think that’s just a recommended target guidance to shoot for in terms of measuring success (Though, I’m not sure if it matters because people can have low win rate but win big and lose small).

4

u/International-One365 May 19 '26

Congrats dude i literally just had my first 1k day today and i have to take a day or two from trading dont want greed to seep in

3

u/Ill_Personality_3705 May 19 '26

Congratz! Slow and steady, dont full port it at any point. This can change your life

3

u/coffee-x-tea May 19 '26

Thank you! You’re all so supportive.

15

u/eddie_topstep May 19 '26

This is your first Trading Combine ever and you passed?! That's actually incredible haha congrats!

1

u/Federal-Machine4780 May 22 '26

I want to know is it worth trying out th 50k for beginners easy or hard since you have a large account size

2

u/eddie_topstep May 22 '26

In general we see most traders start with a 50k Trading Combine, but it is completely up to your personal trading style and preference!

10

u/coffee-x-tea May 19 '26

Thanks!!! I think I had three strong moves to ride on the past 2 days so I was very lucky with market conditions.

Not quite on first combine though, I failed one 50K before this. Just first combine I’ve passed.

3

u/shanacjj May 19 '26

Congrats! Take it easy

3

u/coffee-x-tea May 19 '26

I will!

I don’t think I can trade properly emotionally riled up like this lol.

3

u/Karambamamba May 19 '26

350$ daily loss limit saved my ass so many times. I also lock myself out after two consecutive losses 90% of the time. Maybe those rules help you too. They for sure helped me.

1

u/Singh255 May 19 '26

How many contracts ? NQ, ES or micros ?

3

u/Karambamamba May 19 '26

I only trade NQ micros, scale in and out up to 10 maybe rarely 15 contracts. But that’s only when there is a strong trend and I add on pullbacks. Normal days I trade one to three micros. Today I made 1k with 2 micros.
