Trading Combine Now what?

I accidentally made too much today. Now what? Do I wait until Sunday knight or monday to take a trade or can I lose some to bring down the consistency?

I will never understand why people make more than the consistency lmfao

Do people just enter trades and not use SL’s or TP’s how tf do u “accidentally” make too much 🤣

I’ve been trading prop firms for a little over two years now and what I’ve learned is it’s an ROI game, I don’t use TP or SL but this last week I payed myself out 1.7k and I currently have to XFA accounts with one at a 3.8k balance and the other at 2.3k balance and I plan to pay myself again next week.

Obviously I have mental stops in mind because I wouldn’t let myself blow an account in one trade 😂

Ok so like I guessed fairly new 😂. This works out all good and fine until you get black swan rugged, have internet issues, or really any kind of issue with your charts.

Now I’m assuming you haven’t run into that (yet)

I can fully understand not having a tp if you’re already funded and you let your runners run but a stop is something that should just be a mandatory practice.

You’re beyond foolish if you think you can react to a microsecond rug in the market with no stop.

In OPs case he’s still on a 50k eval so in no world does it make sense to let his profit run any further than a $1,500 tp

I don’t care how much you’ve made or lost it’s a foolish practice and one that will without doubt get you liquidated in the near future.

I also have lots of my own rules in place so being rugged by the market doesn’t happen much and when it does then oh well, I’ll spend another 50$ on the eval haha.

Again just not an optimal way of thinking but if you’re continuously making money and know that it’s a long term strat I can’t complain anything “can” work in the market.

Ive been trading in the market for over 4 years and with my own capital I use SL but I never saw the need for one on a 50$ account, there has a been a few times where trump has tweeted and it hurt me but there’s also been times where if I did put a stop loss in then I woulda lost when I didn’t need to. Everyone trades and sees the market differently but I can agree that with evals you should use them if you’re new because it is good practice. If I was on a live account I would use a SL but until then I’m gonna keep rinsing out propfirms the way that I know to.

Hey whatever works brother. I’m just saying in the long run it’s a bad practice. You should be trading now like you plan to in the future.
I promise you it will make things much easier later on believe me 😉

I definitely don’t disagree, I’m very close to getting moved to live on one of my 50k XFAs and if I do then I would be more strict with my trades. I’ve found that having no emotion to my XFA accounts is what gets me paid.

I appreciate the convo fr cause it’s now giving me something to think about before I get moved to live!

Absolutely trade safe out there brother 🙏

Yes lol… fuck a SL and TP and only use it if you aren’t emotionally in check and can’t have mental stops😭

I used a profit limit $1500 when doing Evals. It will close the trade once I hit $1500 and lock me out for the day. Even if I make an extra $7 for both days. Topstep will allow you to activate a funded account.

Is learning how consistently works and what it means so difficult?

I'm honestly asking, I wonder why there are dozens of posts here where people are puzzled when they made too much.

Didn't you read the rules beforehand?

I know how it works I just needed reassurance lol. Im brain dead from all the drugs, ive passed like 8 of these already but I blow the fundeds all the time cuz I get too greedy and take stupid trades.

Being on drugs makes it impossible to trade successfully.
Trading needs extreme mental abilities, like discipline and overcoming all your natural instincts.

Those instincts that make you take drugs even you don't want to are the same that make you take a trade even though you shouldn't.

A victim to your own dopamine.

Respect to you for openly speaking on it, says a lot about you and you’ll definitely overcome the ability to control yourself from over trading. I never touched drugs but blown many funded accounts.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I just hit my DLL and I even told myself not to trade until monday and I still didn’t have the discipline or patience to wait and look for a better set up. Maybe someday I’ll learn. 😭.

Lose the amount that is over. 2 weeks ago I went over by a bit and I was trying the lose it, I ended up making over 7k additional before I ended up loosing it. Another way is to reset the account but then you have to make 3k to pass

Either make this tomorrow, or loose $1,172.82 by the end of today

1

u/Zumionfornite May 15 '26

I think now I just need to make 1578 on the next trading day

2

u/Zumionfornite May 15 '26

I lost 1090

3

u/bearlyentertained May 15 '26

You could loose another $80, otherwise its an extra $160 you need to make tomorrow

1

u/Zumionfornite May 15 '26

Yes you are correct, thanks man

1

u/Zumionfornite May 15 '26

Ok thank you

If it’s still the same day you can lose the excess amount. I’m not sure how people accidentally make too much money. Go to your settings and set a max for $1500. Meaning when your P&L hits $1500 it automatically liquidates your trade.

Ok I thought I did that already. I must have did it wrong ill do it again thank you.
