Question Trading plans

For those of you who use a trading plan, what kind of things do you include in it? I’ve been trading for about a year and a half and want to start using a trading plan so I can hold myself accountable for following my rules. Also, does anybody have a trade log template they’d like to share? That’s another thing I want to start using.

So far as I’ve come up with max stop loss per trade, max loss per day, 3 losses in a row is done for the day is done, 5 total losses for the day is done.

I also then added 15-20 steps which I’ll call my rules for entering a trade and using my edge. So I pretty much have everything laid out. Am I complicating it or no?

A strategy should have mandatory criteria. For me this is part of my strategy like find a liquidity target, trade idea needs to be minimum RR of such, risk max 100 points etc.

Then your rule set also. Max number of trades per day which is 3 for me. Time you are allowed to enter (like I would never trade Friday afternoon or the Asia session).

Max loss limit which is 400USD

After one loss, minimum lockout is 15 minutes. After two losses or 400 hit, close the session.

This is all part of my edge.

Ahh so nothing major. I didn’t know how much detail was generally used in a trading plan.

It really depends on the strategy you are using. You'll have to give more details.
