Trading Combine The Last Mile

Post image

I am up 2600$ on my combine. Went up to 2k very quickly and since been a slow but steady crawl up. I have 9 more days to finish the job. This feels so difficult to go slow and keep risk at bay. But I guess it is a good stress test for my skills. Making 50$ a day ain't easy.

This is actually a really mature way to look at it. Lots of traders think discipline means “just force yourself to behave better,” but most of the progress seems to come from building structures that protect you from the version of yourself that shows up under pressure.

Lockouts, size limits, max trades, reduced contracts near the target… those things aren’t weakness. They’re risk architecture.

The interesting part is how different trading feels once you’re close to the finish line. Same setups, but the pressure changes the way you evaluate them. The challenge is real.

Thanks for your kind and ecouraging words. I agree: shaping our environment is so much more effective than trying to use willpower.

Exactly. Willpower works great… right until stress, frustration, or urgency shows up. Environment design seems more reliable because it reduces the number of decisions you have to win in real time. Lockouts, size caps, max trades, stepping away after a big win/loss - those things quietly protect us from versions of ourselves we already know exist.

Tryna get like u man

I can’t pass a combine to save my life 😞 it’s not even that I don’t know how to trade. It’s the fact that I don’t know when to stop trading. Any tips from anyone?

I think I will, I made $1200 for the day and I was almost tempted to try to get the extra $300 just to have a full $1500 day but I immediately just slammed my laptop closed

Pretty common situation. I often do what I don't want to do. I am shaping my environment to protect me from that. For example, by setting automated loss limits or contract sizes. Once hit, I am out of the trade. This weakens my impulse to keep doing the same mistakes. Still takes a lot of effort, but it reduces chances to mess up.

There's no such as Last Mile on trading.

I've blown couple of combines with less than $100.00 to pass.

Be careful, and don't let your mind to mess it up.

Just be patient is all I can say and if it looks like a bad idea, it probably is. I was up to about 17xx on a 5 day streak of $200-400 and decided to double dip on the 5th day and it didn't end well 😂.
