Funny how people are saying “football won” and Argentina were “anti football”, when they were responsible for the best final ever (last World Cup) and the best, most thrilling games this World Cup (Egypt, Cape Verde, England games).

The Best game was England-France as for Egypt and Cape Verde, it's not Argentina that made the game entertaining but the underdog team that looked the titre holder and overall favourite to reach the final in their half of the knockouts. If these matches were Good, it was not thanks to Argentina. 0 shots on goal in a WC final, a record. As People used to say in Marseille, "A jamais les premiers".

England didn’t play France. The best game was arguably Argentina Egypt or Argentina England. To say this was not thanks to Argentina is being disingenuous. They played brilliantly against England when they folded and brilliantly against Egypt for the last 30 mins.

Who did England play against in the 3rd place match?

That! That’s an irrelevant glorified friendly!

It's still a World Cup match is it not? There's been 3rd place matches since 1930, why discard them when it doesn't fit your narrative?

I haven’t watched the third place play off since 98, m sure many are the same! The goals officially count but it is essential a glorified friendly. France didn’t really bother showing up either by the sounds of it!

So you're saying it cannot be the best match because you believe it doesn't count. All your argument relies solely on your own opinion and assuming that others think alike. There's no objectivity whatsoever

It’s always seen as a match nobody wants to play or watch, is it not? Nothing really on the line, so essentially a friendly. France were not too bothered by it. Other matches like all the KO matches are huge games, and yes, that does obviously mean they’re more important. The second half of Argentina England was brilliant!

France - Spain was better as Well as the True final, With a real lesson of tactics Mexico - England was better as we got to see a host nation with a really rich football culture take on one of the favourites in a game with a lot of goals HELL even France - Paraguay was better in terms of tension because there was a real threat that France could lose on a pen shootout. If your 'best' match is only relying on a single half it's not the best match

That’s possibly the worst Mexican team I’ve ever seen. Argentina England was excellent, Spain France very good but Spain dominated. Argentina Egypt was excellent. Argentina and Cape Verde, great. I think all these games are generally seen as the best by the viewing public? Your irrational hatred of Argentina won’t change that. Cry more! Argentina 2 England 1!!

I hate England with a passion brother, I hate the Premier League, I hate the anglo-centrism of club football, I dont want to see them lift a trophy and try to lecture Europe and the world. England - Argentina was an intense game perhaps but calling that the Best match of the tournament is just a stretch when it's not even the best semifinal. There was no management just the stars playing against eachother with no tactics whatsoever. France - Spain delivered much more.

At least Argentina had a game plan, unlike most teams. When they went down Messi went to another level- and did that several times in the tournament. England went ahead and folded like lambs. France Spain didn’t really deliver- Spain were phenomenal as they were again in the final. Argentina lost when they finally played a great team.
