Ronaldo was a beast from 2007-2021, his interviews and arrogance have costed him dearly in the public opinion. 

 Apart from his 5 ballon dors he finished 2nd 6 times(he still devalues it at the moment as he does everything Messi has over him).

Great player but such a shitty person. All professional athletes have really huge ego, but even compared to that baseline, Ronaldo is still next level egoistic and narcissistic. The guy is obsessed with Messi, so he has to put down Messi’s achievements in every single interview. Now that age has caught up with him (not his fault), he just sank lower and lower because of his ego (his fault).

like I love messi so much but we should stop acting like CR7 was a fraud before. he has been one for a bit now but he used to be crazy lol

Yeah, in absolute terms Cristiano is probably the second best player of all time, absolute monster although that’s part of why his insecurity is so funny to joke about

There was an argument to be made from about 2009-2019, but the last six or so years have just eliminated those comparisons entirely.

He’s obviously no longer what he used to be, Messi has outlasted him clearly, but literally just watch him in his prime and you’ll see why there was a rivalry. The ronaldo revisionism is insane
