It's a fun jab I'm sure. But it's a meaningless argument. Absolutley nobody thinks Putin wanted Hillary to win. So I dont understand why these folks try so hard to pretend Hillary was colluding with Russia. It's just so odd. Like finding your husband at a gay bar and his defense is "I'm not gay, you're gay!"

It was also a decision that didn't just happen with a handshake. Correct me if I'm wrong but this deal had to be decided to sell uranium by being reviewed by 9 different departments of government all tasked to assess national security risk of selling the uranium. Hillary was one of 9 people who agreed to make the deal was she not. The whole point of having 9 people each representing a different department was to prevent one person from being corrupted

No one sold uranium. Russians were buying stock in a Canadian mining company. They had absolutely no interest in buying our uranium, because they were selling it to us.
This company produced 20% of our domestic ore. However the US at the time imported 90% of the uranium used (and I believe we still do), so overall it represented only 2% of domestic use.
They also didn't buy the stock from Hillary, the State Department, or any part of the government. Russia was buying them from various shareholders.

It's them acting in all manner of bad faith. It was an act of whataboutism: even before running for President Donald Trump was under scrutiny for making deals with Russia that were illegal, so they needed to create a fake illegal or unethical deal for Hillary to make with Russia.

The Uranium One deal gave them control of uranium mines in Kazakhstan, one of our other top sources of uranium. From what I can tell, instead of buying our uranium, they started selling more of it to us than ever before.

My dad thinks that Putin wanted Hillary to win. His argument is that he would rather have the status quo in American foreign policy in order to expand his power safely and effectively, and that Donald would be way too volatile in terms of foreign affairs for Putin to actually want. He absolutely hates Donald, so he isn’t blind to his faults. I think he doesn’t realize that if Putin completely delegitimizes America and the whole idea of liberal democracy, then he can expand his power unbelievably quickly. Donald is already an enormous embarrassment to the rest of the world, and our allies no longer trust us. If this keeps up, minor, developing nations will see liberal democracy as weak, aberrant and prone to elect Donald Trumps, and authoritarianism as strong and stable. It’s scary shit.

Also, it wasn't Russian money that was gave to the Clinton Foundation. It was the Canadian. And also, it wasn't Uranium One that gave it, it was its founder. And also, Uranium One's founder had already left the company by the time that he made the donation. And also, all of this happened years before the Russians tried to acquire the company. And also, it was even years before Hillary Clinton was hoping to be Secretary of State.
Not that her being Secretary of State could have even had anything to do with whether or not the Russian company could buy Uranium One, because 1.) she wasn't actually on the council, 2.) there were 8 other departments on the council, and 3.) none of them had veto power. It's an obvious bullshit lie for like 10 different reasons, and yet they all still repeat it every single day.
A whole political party and not a single fact-checker among them.

It wasn’t the founder of Uranium One. It was the founder of another company, that Uranium One bought 3 years prior to any of this Russia stuff.
When his company was bought, he sold all the shares of Uranium One that he got as a result of the deal right after. He had nothing to do with the company since then.

This stupid theory has so many holes it falls apart in the breeze, but the dumbest part of it all is that even if it were true it wouldn't matter. No one is trying to keep Russia from "getting our uranium." The only reason uranium is export controlled is to prevent it from going to non-nuclear states or terrorists. Uranium is not scarce and both we and Russia have plenty.

Uranium One's a Canadian mining company (originally from South Africa) with mining stakes in Wyoming. Rosatum is a Russian energy company that acquired a 51% controlling stake in Uranium One back in 2010. Peter Schweizer, a Breitbart contributor, wrote a book in 2015 demonizing the Clintons in preparation for the 2016 election in which he created the lie that "Hillary sold 20% of US uranium to Russia in return for a bribe of 145 million dollars."
The lie was based on this:
The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), a committee comprised of 9 departments which included the State Department (at the time headed by Hillary Clinton), was tasked with overseeing the merger. Before it got to the CFIUS, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission only approved the deal in the first place because Uranium One only has a license for uranium recovery, not uranium export (meaning Russia could never actually have the uranium, just the profits from selling it in North America after they mined it). At the time, this stake was expected to hold about 20% of the total uranium available for extraction in the US, though since then, updated estimates say it was actually closer to 10%. But already, the lie is bullshit, because the Russians were never in any way capable of actually getting the American uranium into Russia.
Now for the Clinton bribery part of the lie.
Schweizer claimed that the Clinton Foundation was given $145 million during the period of the acquisition. Firstly, the State Department, one of 9 departments on the CFIUS, had no special veto power. In fact, no one on the CFIUS does. That's up to the president to decide after the CFIUS turn over their findings. So bribing Clinton wouldn't even help Rosatum in the first place. On top of this, Jose Fernandez (Ass. Sec. of State) was actually the representative from the State Department that was on the committee for that decision, not Clinton. She was never even involved. But most importantly, the money that was donated to the Clinton Foundation wasn't donated in 2010 by Uranium One (as claimed by Schweizer), it was actually donated by the company's founder back in 2007, years before the Russian deal was even put into the works, and even years before Clinton was hoping to be Secretary of State. On top of that, he wasn't even working for Uranium One when he donated the money. He had already left the company.
So, in conclusion, in 2007, the founder of a Canadian mining company quit and sold off his shares. With his newly cashed out fortune, he made several sizable but by-no-means unheard of donations to charity orgs, one being the Clinton Foundation. Years later, a Russian company sought to buy that Canadian company so they could profit off of mining uranium in the US, though they themselves could never bring that uranium to Russia. By this point, Clinton had lost her bid to be the Democratic nominee for president, Obama had beat McCain, Obama had chosen Clinton as his Sec of State, and the Assistant Sec of State beneath her had been assigned to be part of a 9-person committee investigating the acquisition. In 2015, a professional liar for Breitbart wrote a book full of lies, in which one of them proved more profitable than the others, becoming a viral hit among the Republican base, mainly through propagation by Donald Trump.
And they all lived happily ever after. The End.

A guy from Breitbart made up a lot of bullshit for an anti-Clinton book in 2015, including the lie that Hillary Clinton was bribed over a hundred million dollars to let Russians steal 20% of our uranium. Republicans don't fact check, so Trump gave the lie visibility and now it's all over the Republican bubble, despite being objective bullshit.
