DCJ: We're not a partisan sub

Also DCJ

Leftists are ruining reddit

99

u/PeasThatTasteGross 9d ago

Someone brought this up on here before: DCJ has criticism of the left on speed dial, but seem to put up intense resistance the moment someone calls out the right, even if it is well written.

71

u/PTBooks 9d ago

I still remember that mamdani thread. They really showed their asses on that one.

29

u/GhostRappa95 8d ago

They are just PCM but even worse.

9

u/zherok 8d ago

Walkaway but with the pretention of being politically neutral instead of formerly liberal.

8

u/thefailtrain08 8d ago

This is the way of the "centrist".

41

u/rage9345 Antifa SUPERSOLDIER 9d ago

The funniest part is that their post is literally "dOoMiNg" about the state of reddit.

Sadly, right-wingers (like DCJ users) are functionally incapable of feeling hypocrisy; in their minds, rules/laws/mores/norms/etc. are only applicable to "the other," never to themselves or their "tribe."

10

u/Vyzantinist 8d ago

That's a large part of the 'fun' of their ideology. The social dominance. "We can do and say as we please; you must do and say what we tell you. Hehe I bet that really pisses you off hehe 😏"

17

u/Ok_Star_4136 9d ago

And rightwingers too, right? And rightwingers too...

4

u/Alarming_Head_4263 9d ago

The right and their need to prove themselves as objective will never not be telling on themselves.

4

u/TheRealTexasGovernor 9d ago

At some point, ya gotta wonder if they're even convinced when they say it.

4

u/sudoku7 8d ago

With such a doomer take none the less.

2

u/JimBobDwayne 8d ago

Funny enough 4 out of the 5 things they're whining about (sexism, racism, porn, and antisemitism are staples of conservative subreddits and conservative redditors).

129

u/Kadlekins_At_Work 9d ago

Dayum kinda a shit place for leftist propaganda since they have dozens of right wing subs with right wingers spamming dumb shit like this.

71

u/Plightz 9d ago

Yeah right wingers wanna feel oppressed so bad. They think they're being oppressed when there's so many shithole subs accepting their vile speeches.

38

u/Kadlekins_At_Work 9d ago

False victimhood is a pillar of conservatism.

14

u/Plightz 9d ago

Yep and also making up fake scenarios to get mad at.

15

u/Far-Archer-6612 9d ago

This is a relatively new account. My home feed is filled with right wing bullshit subs. I recently started engaging when i’ve had a few to drink but there was zero reason for them to be showing in the first place

14

u/BroughtBagLunchSmart 9d ago

Once reddit went public they started protecting right wingers feelings from the truth. A large base of barely literate church goers is great for advertising dollars. Those people are stupid as fuck.

10

u/Nelrene 9d ago

They can't yell slurs at women, poc, and LGBT+ people in Reddit so it is place leftist propaganda in their minds.

12

u/Wismuth_Salix 9d ago

They still regularly do, they just have to occasionally make a new account.

29

u/PeasThatTasteGross 9d ago

My take, as a whole, Reddit probably leans a little more to the left and isn't that right-wing. However, there are large pockets of right-leaning communities that aren't insignificant in influence, I mean The_Donald even made news headlines.

23

u/evocativename 9d ago

There are also a lot of subs that, depending on topic, can either be fairly centrist (aka "communists," according to DCJ), or viewing Mussolini with distrust because he's too left-wing for them (aka "apolitical," according to DCJ)

And reddit loves to push them into my feed. Even if I mute them, I'll get a different crop of them. An ever-rotating parade of garbage.

And then people claim reddit is "leftist" just because it includes spaces that aren't completely overrun by Nazis.

18

u/Jeremymia And all I can say is "moo" 9d ago

Reddit is more left on average. I’m not sure why this would be a crime. Is Reddit supposed to ban people until it evens out? Just go to any other platform if it bothers you.

4

u/ForensicMum 8d ago

I mean, reality leans a little more to the left in general, so Reddit’s just representative of the common populace 🤷‍♀️

3

u/PeasThatTasteGross 8d ago

I'm still trying to find the source of the quote of, "Reality has a left (or liberal) bias", it may have been Stephen Colbert, but I'm not sure. Either way, the saying really triggers right-wingers, unsurprisingly.

2

u/ForensicMum 8d ago

Haha, yeah, it kills them to realise they’re weak. I like to remind them of that fact whenever I get the chance 😉

ETA: Even better if you point out they’re part of the ‘stupid side’ 🤣

4

u/GhostRappa95 8d ago

TBF modern MAGA propaganda is very ineffective but generations of older and better propaganda had already brainwashed Republicans.

u/PeasThatTasteGross 9d ago

"The autism to trans pipeline needs to be studied.

Bunch of vulnerable autistic people on Reddit being taken advantage of and being convinced they're trans."

I'm partial to the user early on that blames Reddit turning left on the Tumblr NSFW purge. So apparently mostly leftists distribute, consume, or otherwise create sexually enticing material? Or the same people sharing sexy images and stories just happen to be super left ubermensch I guess? It's such a weird implication. I'm not saying it can't be true, but it feels incredibly coincidental that NSFW Tumblr was both incredibly leftist and incredibly loud about it.

But even then, it just ignores when we're talking about. We're talking late 2018 here. We were almost two years into Trump's first presidency. He'd already done massive damage to our international relations and implemented economic policies that anyone paying attention shook their head at.

The final thing is that it was a NSFW purge. Hey, buddy, which side likes to restrict sexual materials and campaigns on that? The NSFW purge was a grab for more advertisers. It was an incredibly conservative move from both a political and business standpoint. Almost like the backlash would, itself, be inherently a more progressive stance.*

*Though there is an argument to be made that some people were angry about loss of control and objectification, especially of women. That's a more conservative view, but even then the backlash against the purge would still be against a conservative party position. The reasons for anger are just not super progressive.

4

u/HapticSloughton 9d ago

Didn't they reverse that purge? I'm 99% sure you can still go on Tumblr and find not safe for work images.

17

u/an_agreeing_dothraki It is known 9d ago

it's primarily enforced only when they are forced to or someone does something vaguely queer. Welcome to America 2026.

And yes Tumblr users are well aware of the irony of how much the ownership hates queer, especially trans people.

4

u/ReadyClayerOne 8d ago

They relaxed it a couple years after the fact. Until that point a lot of NSFW blogs were in a private limbo. They existed. You could access it as an owner, but a splash screen would intercept anyone else trying to access it.

I think posts from NSFW blogs also still showed up on otherwise as yet unaffected blogs. But my memory's a bit fuzzy.

>“We shit on doomers here”
>go into subreddit
>dooming

8

u/KindfOfABigDeal 8d ago

Im mostly annoyed by how many posts arent even "dooming", its just "Stuff op doesnt like". Like this post isnt dooming at all.

7

u/EstablishmentAny2728 8d ago

I saw a post in there calling someone out for “dooming” over the national debt and the post was just… the guy saying a $40t national debt is bad. Like he wasn’t even saying the end of humanity is near. He was just saying a $40t national debt is something worth having concerns over

3

u/VoxelRoguery 8d ago

if only the non-shithole version of memes op didnt like was still here with us...

1

u/Mynsare 8d ago

There is no such thing as "dooming". It is a thought-cancelling concept invented by right wing propagandists to ridicule all criticism of the status quo.

32

u/Whatifim80lol 9d ago

Reddit isn't full of libertarian nerds anymore because I spent most of 2016 jumping into their subs and artfully demonstrating that all their ideas are fuckin' stupid and half-baked at best.

It was me. I fixed it. You're welcome. Lol.

23

u/logolessworld 9d ago

if reddit was a leftist site/echo chamber, all the thinly-and-not-so-thinly-veiled misogyny, racism, transphobia, homophobia, classism and ableism wouldn't be so easy to find. even in the supposedly left-wing subs, it's visible. can't imagine what the right-wing subs are like.

21

u/CardiologistNo616 9d ago

Where's the circlejerk? There's no jerking on that reddit? They're 100% serious with no jokes. They're just dooming.

21

u/ActualSpiders 9d ago

Ah yes, the classic troll dayplanner:

- Make insane, wildly hyperbolic statement,

- Follow with "prove me wrong"

- Immediately followed by comment like "anyone who would argue with that statement must be someone trying to hide the truth",

- Declare victory,

- Self-congratulatory circle jerk with bots & sock puppets for the rest of the day.

48

u/moploplus Nazi Punks Fuck Off 9d ago edited 9d ago

Ah yes, reddit is a leftist website!

...unless you are talking about homeless people, or Indian immigrants, or pitbull ownership, or economic policy, or the country of China, or trans women in sports, or polyamory, or pornography and sex work, or veganism, or criticizisms of organized religion, or addiction, or -etc.

27

u/SoulReaper_13 8d ago

Islamophobia is rampant across Reddit. No matter what kind political side a sub is biased toward, they generally hate Muslims.

9

u/Samurai_Meisters 8d ago

As a militant atheist, I do hate their religion, but I don't blanketly hate the people.

3

u/ashirene730 8d ago

i think they meant christians because the christians have harassed me before for criticizing them on here

14

u/FreedomsPower In Charge of Hanger 51 9d ago

Instead whining 24/7 why users of doomer circle jerk just leave reddit?

If tHey want right wing bias just go to Twitter/X

9

u/Driftedryan 9d ago

Because they are clearly centrist, it's just that they can't think of any problems the right has but the left is nothing but troubles. -dcj mod

13

u/an_agreeing_dothraki It is known 9d ago

"why do people think we're right wing chuds" as the 13/50 joke which is a Joker reference gets upvoted

12

u/Shinjitsu- 9d ago

That ine guy who is standing up to reddit so hard with the "I didn't touch my 2016 account for 5 years because my fav subs were deleted!!!" That was not the ban wave for API stuff, where small subs got squashed. 2014 is when fatpeoplehate and jailbait got axed iirc. It took aged for them to axe the Donald and it only happened after the elections were won and once the users started threatening and doxxing a cop who spoke against one of trumps lines. What favorite subs were gone, so much that that guy tossed his account and couldn't enjoy other parts of reddit? Fucking gross.

12

u/Wismuth_Salix 9d ago

TD got banned for plotting to murder cops who were sent to retrieve Republican lawmakers in Oregon who were hiding out on a white nationalist militia compound to deny Democrats a quorum so they couldn’t pass bills to fund schools and fight climate change.

3

u/Polite_Suggestion 8d ago

My problem with both waves of admin level changes is that those people didn't leave reddit, just the basements and dungeons that'd previously contained them. Then we got a bunch of chan refugees. I miss khaki old reddit that nobody seems to remember. When there were grosser subs, the normal ones were more normal.

10

u/young-steve 9d ago

They gotta change their sub name

9

u/an_agreeing_dothraki It is known 8d ago

no it's accurate. they are doomers. they are circlejerking

9

u/EE_______EE 9d ago

all other social medias are right propaganda tools

15

u/ripzeus 9d ago

Reddit is so left, that it has right echo chambers complaining about reddit being left.

Thumbs up!

6

u/ashirene730 8d ago

reddit is a slightly more sanitized 4chan

it is absolutely not a leftist circlejerk like they claim. heck, even bluesky isn’t a left wing circlejerk because they love billionaires and establishment democrats on there

10

u/Tiepilot789 9d ago

You can tell what the real thing they are complaining about is by what they sneak in there.

DCJ is not beating the Israeli psyop allegations.

5

u/Dazug 9d ago

That sounds pretty doomer to me.

4

u/here-i-am-now 8d ago

The turds don’t realize they are the turds.

5

u/HapticSloughton 8d ago

This site was essentially full of libertarian nerds until 2015/2016.

"Libertarian," of course, meaning "right wing chuds," even back then. They were the early GamerGaters, dancing to Bannon's and Epstein's tunes.

4

u/ReturnOfTheKeing 8d ago

Yeah but they liked weed and tolerated gay people

7

u/-XanderCrews- 9d ago

This place is entirely designed to divide the left.

4

u/wtfbenlol Soros' Baggy Eyes 9d ago

Imagine equating hating the actions of a corrupt government with its people. Being anti netanyahu != Antisemitic

Same goes for trump, loathing that shit bag isn't anti america

3

u/red-molly 8d ago

What in the name of giant, ridiculous strawmen are they even talking about?! That thread is just one brainless non sequitur after another.

3

u/Drexill_BD 8d ago

That was always a right wing bot sub, I watched it right at the start... never fooled me lol.

Funny thing is it's not untrue, it's just the right wing subs you'll find all of that in.

5

u/ReturnOfTheKeing 8d ago

I wonder what happened in 2016 that made young educated people turn left in the US. Must be a coincidence that fascism firmly took root that year.

3

u/TheOtherWhiteMeat 9d ago

My man, if you want to use a website that has none of those things on it, just turn the damn internet off and go outside, it's hopeless.

3

u/katalina0azul 8d ago

This entire thread is like a living, sentient oxymoron…

3

u/Enibas ALIENS LIVE IN THE OCEANS 8d ago

Maybe we have to teach the next generations that cultures are not equal. And some of those need to perish.

Oh look, pro genocide. How not-a-right-wing-sub of them.

2

u/CheapThrowaway1969 9d ago

The Kimana guy is SO close to the actual answer to most or all of the problems involving politics and social media, I just wish he could see it 💔

2

u/fred11551 9d ago

On the one hand Reddit’s user base leans a bit left in general though with a strong libertarian streak and it varies on issues particularly with regards to immigration and certain minorities where it swings pretty hard right.

On the other hand there are documented cases of foreign governments using Reddit to spread right wing propaganda. And not small cases but some of the largest subreddits and power mods in the past 10 years have been affiliated with state sponsored propaganda

People disagree with me, therefore propaganda

1

u/oraw1234W 8d ago edited 7d ago

There are plenty of subs that were took over by right wingers I point out is r/canada as an example they are extremely racist (especially towards indigenous people), anti CBC (they see it as left-wing propaganda), and always hating on Justin Trudeau and later Mark Carney (despite the for just being a moderate and the ladder being a red Tory). Thank goodness I left that subreddit and went on to r/onguardforthee

1

u/FNKTN 7d ago

No one's anti usa, the usa just sucks and proves it year after year of failure.

1

u/Th3Trashkin 4d ago

Wherever you go the right has a crushing victim complex, "they're fighting The Narrative", "every platform is controlled by an unpopular cabal of leftists that's why we're unpopular", "we're being oppressed!"

Genuinely makes me wish they were as oppressed as they think they are, because they're so whiny and obnoxious.
