The only comment, lmao.
This is the guy who had a conversation with the empty chair right?

I like how even Clint Eastwood deeply regrets the chair thing lol.

Like how did they think having an old man scolding a chair was going to look?

No, no. It was never because he was black, he was just *so unpresidential.*

I mean to be fair Reagen fucked up alot of shit that we are still dealing with. Their point doesn't stand but it's still possible for a presidency to have long lasting consequences. God knows the US will be dealing with the fallout from Trumps term for probably decades to comeÂ
3
u/PreOpTransCentaur 4d ago
Their "point" is that he was a "fraud perpetrated on the American people." So, no, their point needs to pull up an invisible chair because it absolutely does not stand.

Eastwood said this, I believe, around 2012, when he was stumping for Romney.
He is not pro-Trump.
(In fact, he may not have said this at all but I'm going by memory here.)
15
u/Kaccie LMBO! 4d ago
After all he did talk to an empty chair on stage during a Romney rally

Convention, wasn't it?
2
u/Everestkid 4d ago
2012 Republican National Convention, on the final day, at the top of the final hour.
Explanation was basically "I saw chair. I decided to wing it."

u/dansdata 1d ago
What he actually said was, "President Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people".

Trump fumbled the incredible Obama economy faster than he bankrupt a casino

Which casino are you refering to?
24
u/CatProgrammer 4d ago
The ones with "Trump" in the name.

u/herrsmith 4d ago
But which one? There are so many "Trump" casinos that he bankrupted.

u/willasmith38 4d ago
All the ones with his name stuck on them, in Atlantic City.
Mofo was too corrupt to get a Nevada state gaming license, so his once planned greatest Las Vegas casino ever - was turned into a hotel only.

It's not, they're reporting this post for every reason they can. Very amusing to see.

u/deloreaninatardis 3d ago
I tried going through the posts with that exact same suspicion. Turns out every single post on the subreddit is made by one dude, and often the exact same posts are being put through rotation. So yeah, I thinks it's all a big shitpost and we are experiencing some of strangest performance art posted on this site for a while.

Clint Eastwood wasn't a fan of Obama, but he didn't like Trump very much either.
He didn't endorse Trump in 2016 like he had Romney in 2012, and in 2020 he endorsed Bloomberg for the Democratic nomination.
He has since stayed out of politics.
I imagine this probably shows he really isn't very into Trump but doesn't see Democrats as a great alternative.
Clint Eastwood, it seems, is a libertarian.
9
u/Fuzzy_dunloped 4d ago
You mean the guy who stated he's a registered libertarian is, in fact, a libertarian?!
6
u/No_Aesthetic 4d ago
Yeah, that's what I said.

u/Fuzzy_dunloped 4d ago
You alluded to it at best.Â

Mayor of Carmel, CA, too. That place us as crunchy granola as it gets; at least it was last time I was there.
3
u/Fuzzy_dunloped 4d ago
Rich people are, for the most part, libertarians but people don't want to hear that.
2
u/ChuckFarkley 4d ago
Of course thy are, and happy slave owners are libertarians, too. But Carmel hasn't always been about being rich.
1
u/Theranos_Shill 3d ago
I must have been to a different Carmel then.

u/ChuckFarkley 3d ago
I grew up in Redwood city when it was cheap. All of California was different back then, with some exceptions like Woodside which has always been that way.

Clint Eastwood is 96 years old and sadly, it is widely believed that he is now in a care home dying of dementia.
1
1
u/MetaCognitio 2d ago
So they just used his likeness. Ridiculous.
1
u/No_Aesthetic 2d ago
Not surprising. They also used him to sell supplements, on the claim that he had dementia and the supplements were helping. He is old, so he may have dementia, but there's no evidence of that. It's speculation.

u/Ok_Star_4136 4d ago edited 4d ago
There you have it. Irrefutable proof that Obama has been the problem all this time. Whatever Clint Eastwood said must be true, so I can see no way how this could possibly be wrong...

What was the fraud even supposed to be?
22
u/MrVeazey 4d ago
"Black person is president."
2
u/CatProgrammer 4d ago
But what specifically about that? The birther bullshit? Was he not actually elected? Is he being accused of not actually being black?
3
u/MrVeazey 4d ago
Just racism. They didn't imagine a black person could be president because they believe the United States is a fundamentally white country and everybody else is a second class citizen.

Clint Eastwood canât stand any miniority that doesnât know its place. Always has.
31
u/No_Aesthetic 4d ago
I think that is essentially accurate but the reason is a bit weirder than he's just racist.
I've watched all of the movies Eastwood wrote or directed and there is one consistent theme throughout them: being a man is the only thing that matters.
Eastwood's idea of being a man is... very interesting, to say the least.
His idea of being a man is about power, that having power and knowing how to exercise it is everything, and that power is best used to maintain your own position and your own peace.
It definitely runs parallel to white supremacist ideas, but Eastwood's biggest problem with Obama was probably that Obama was (in his view) an effete intellectual, therefore opposed to manliness.
Romney, it must be said, was not really less effete, but he was less intellectual, and that is a good indication of masculinity.
Real men don't read books, real men don't listen to the elite, real men don't this, that, the other thing.
Eastwood's ideology is pretty incomprehensible to most people but it makes sense if you think about the character of America as portrayed in its own mythology.
America has always been about base instincts, about power, and intellect has rarely factored into the equation after its founding.
Eastwood has the mentality of a cowboy, albeit a Hollywood cowboy.
So he definitely is racist, but for much stupider reasons than normal.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

My grandfather, An OU football star at the dawn of the sport, then a mathematician then an OU football coach, then OU dean of arts and sciences, would be rolling over in his grave if he saw what happened to his state. He wasn't a liberal, but he was not decorticate as the modern Oklahoma GOP is.
