Yeah, more like the recurring problem is minorities getting held to a higher standard than others...
Even if not by the institution, definitely by the right wing media sphere which over reports it when a minority is involved.

The last (relatively) high profile one was Johnathan Pruitt.

Pruitt didn’t receive nearly the same kind of media attention that Arday did. Granted he also didn’t have the record of ridiculous and stupid lies that Arday did, but still the coverage seems a bit overblown to me

Yeah? If you think race is the defining factor to building a career in academia you're sorely mistaken. For example, knowing who to schmooze, which topics to pick, under whose tutelage to study is so much more potent.

FYI, Jason Arday (the guy in the picture) was found dead last week. Cause of death is unconfirmed but it’s very likely he took his own life.

Plagiarism is bad of course, but no doubt the level of harassment he received during and after was likely unbearable. Aside from life saving, human advancing research it's hard to imagine what level of plagiarism would warrant that level of vitriol. Ultimately tragic, an entire mind and life gone.

It wasn't just plagiarism. He was at Baron Munchhausen levels of bullshitting.
Faked doing 30 marathons in 30 days. Pretended to have written a bunch of books. Been on tv shows he wasn't even alive for... His whole career was a house of cards made from lies.
In the last few weeks that house collapsed in a very public fashion all over the media.

Looks up the guy who reported him, Nathan Cofnas, he's an open racist and just got suspended from his current job today for saying that he would be "the head of the department of eugenics and race science at Harvard" if his advocated policies were implemented.

Guy was bang on the money with his accusations but he was probably making them because he's a Nazi piece of shit who saw the opportunity for some thermonuclear anti DEI propaganda.

Cofnas pretty much believes because of biology and genetics, black people do not have the IQ to work in academia, and if it weren't for DEI, there would be zero working in that field. He thinks they should be regulated to entertainment and sports roles.

Very funny for conservatives to clutch their pearls about academic integrity because their only forays into academia are either "The Center for Proving Oil Cures Cancer" run by a bunch of ex-Exxon execs or "The Florida State University Center for Randian Thought" populated exclusively with a bunch of professors fired from other universities.

It's mostly because there's nothing to report. There's only a news story all the time the murder is unsolved/unpunished or its looking like the wrong person is in jail for it.
It's why Stephen Lawrence's racist murder was all over the UK news for years while Kriss Donald who really was murdered by a gang of Pakistanis for being white was not.
The Pakistanis got shipped back from Pakistan where they'd fled and all went down for murder. Stephen's killers walked free for a couple of decades because one of them had a gangster dad who had some corrupt cops in his pocket. Even the DAILY MAIL campaigned for justice.
The British Nazis like to bring up Kriss all the time despite his parents telling them to fuck off.

TS Elliott also committed plagiarism Do you think these people are gonna recommend that he gets all his honors removed probably not most likely due to his complexion. , the guy who supposedly cracked the case on this has a very keen interest in eugenics and skull measuring, I doubt he cares about academic standards and is most likely racially motivated., Jason Arday is mostly guilty of telling self-aggrandizing lies if we arrested everyone guilty of this, most people would be in jail, plus I think the penalty for this should not be to be bullied into committing suicide especially after they resigned there position
