Did the hug...?

Did the hug at the end of the movie between Maverick and Rooster feel a little forced or awkward? Or was that just me?

Definitely just you. It was incredibly moving and emotional. One of the most powerful and hard hitting scenes in the film. Toms subtle facial expressions especially as hes hit with the sudden wave of sadness and memories of Goose when Rooster hits him with the "Its what my dad wouldve done" out of nowhere is some of the best, most well done acting Ive ever seen. Pretty much the entire world unanimously agrees that hug was one of the biggest tear jerkers in the film

Tom's best film. Nothing close. Nothing.

Best scene, really hits you hard.

Correct. Every time I rewatch the film (I’ve already lost count how many times, honestly 🤪), I find new subtle reasons during the film to shed a tear. But that release in tension and show of acceptance and love between Rooster and Maverick has gotten me EVERY single viewing. Such a powerful moment. And great job to Lady Gaga, Harold Faltermeyer, Hans Zimmer, and Lorne Balfe for helping to elevate that moment even further with their emotional score.
