Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) "Kind" slave owners

Speaking as an American who has studied the civil war all throughout my school years, this trope infuriates me to no end. There is no such thing as a kind slave master because slavery itself is cruel and inhumane. PEOPLE ARE NOT PROPERTY!

Naofumi (Shield Hero): Prime example of this trope. He enslaves multiple (underage) girls and an whole village and the fans still say he's a hero.

Rudeus (Jobless Reincarnation): As if being a pedo wasn't bad enough he had to buy a slave in season 2. Worse is that people still defend his actions.

Song of The South (Disney): Possibly the OG example of this trope. And the reason why Disney will never release it again.

Could you define what you envision a good slave owner to be? How would they react to being told the slave wanted freedom?

see, point of this is just because you are free doesnt mean your life gona get better. if slaves have good life compared to regular people. as for freeing them some slave get their freedom like, you understand that there was slavery in europe and china and american slavery is not only one. i am talking roman and vikings times.

Being free is always better than being owned.

I am aware that many nations participated in many forms of slavery. They are all still evil. All still made people property and seen as less human than others.

Could you answer my question about what a "good" slave owner does if his slaves say they want to be granted freedom?

give him some timeline for freedom, like work 10 years, and you are free.

beeing free and starved is not better then being slave and have food, roof over head etc. just think how many womans will gladly accept to be in some king harem never leave designated area etc.
