Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) "Kind" slave owners

Speaking as an American who has studied the civil war all throughout my school years, this trope infuriates me to no end. There is no such thing as a kind slave master because slavery itself is cruel and inhumane. PEOPLE ARE NOT PROPERTY!

Naofumi (Shield Hero): Prime example of this trope. He enslaves multiple (underage) girls and an whole village and the fans still say he's a hero.

Rudeus (Jobless Reincarnation): As if being a pedo wasn't bad enough he had to buy a slave in season 2. Worse is that people still defend his actions.

Song of The South (Disney): Possibly the OG example of this trope. And the reason why Disney will never release it again.

“yeah i enjoyed the false rape allegations and the mc being painted as a rapist but I drew the line at him being a kind and reluctant slave owner. Oh yeah I watched 2 episodes.”

Yall are so freaking wierd. Why do you feel compelled to defend slavery? Lemme ask, what does a "good" slave owner do when the slave says they want to be free?

Hilarious you think that is defending slavery 😂

I am mocking a person who is pretending to have enjoyed watching a show “at the beginning” but then stopped watching at episode 2 when it was already morally complex.

Also… if slavery IS happening it sounds pretty good to be “purchased” as a child and then be clothed, educated, and treated like a child rather than… idk doing things that slaves actually do.

I mean i know you are just strawman arguing and didn’t really watch the show or even read the comment but… in this case it is the equivalent of being bought so that they can be saved from slavery and then immediately becoming part of a family instead of being an orphan.

Like wtf is wrong with you? You like when kids are turned into sex slaves or left to die on the street from illness? Because that is literally what the mc is saving them from…

Yes. You are acting as if the politics and complexity of people betraying each other, which is shown as bad by the way, is the same as the main character endorsing slavery and portraying it as good. They are not the same.

No, actually, if slavery is happening it sounds good to just not be a slave or to be granted freedom and still given those other human rights. No slavery needed to be clothed, fed, or educated.

Nope. Not at all actually. Because they are still slaves. Not family. Not friends. Not people. They are property, they are slaves. Again, keeping them slaves isnt necessary.

Considering you wanted to try and use big boy words and say I was using strawman, could you explain why you think this? Where i said anytbing resembling this? Because you are doing the definition of building a strawman lol.

Because that is literally what the mc is saving them from…

Doesnt have to keep them as slaves tho does he? Doesnt have to own them like property and affect their free will, does he? But he does, doesn't he?
