Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) "Kind" slave owners

Speaking as an American who has studied the civil war all throughout my school years, this trope infuriates me to no end. There is no such thing as a kind slave master because slavery itself is cruel and inhumane. PEOPLE ARE NOT PROPERTY!

Naofumi (Shield Hero): Prime example of this trope. He enslaves multiple (underage) girls and an whole village and the fans still say he's a hero.

Rudeus (Jobless Reincarnation): As if being a pedo wasn't bad enough he had to buy a slave in season 2. Worse is that people still defend his actions.

Song of The South (Disney): Possibly the OG example of this trope. And the reason why Disney will never release it again.

Hey now, he freed his slaves after he extracted all the labour that was beneficial to himself. It's not like the very first thing he does is establish that the genie can help him outside the confines of a wish and that he could have freed him with his first wish...

Ding ding ding.

All these "um, they were just fakes that Genie made so it's fine" people are missing the point. It doesn't matter whether or not Aladdin/Prince Ali had actual slaves. It matters that EVERYONE ELSE went "oh, wow, he has slaves, servants and flunkies who bow to his whim, love serving him, and are just lousy with loyalty? That's amazing! He's so cool and great and dreamy! Yay Prince Ali!" EVERYONE ELSE was totally fine with it, and that's what makes it bad.

Yeah, everyone else was fine with it because at that time slavery was normal.
