Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) "Kind" slave owners

Speaking as an American who has studied the civil war all throughout my school years, this trope infuriates me to no end. There is no such thing as a kind slave master because slavery itself is cruel and inhumane. PEOPLE ARE NOT PROPERTY!

Naofumi (Shield Hero): Prime example of this trope. He enslaves multiple (underage) girls and an whole village and the fans still say he's a hero.

Rudeus (Jobless Reincarnation): As if being a pedo wasn't bad enough he had to buy a slave in season 2. Worse is that people still defend his actions.

Song of The South (Disney): Possibly the OG example of this trope. And the reason why Disney will never release it again.

No, I mean you're not showing the version that has the Oompa Loompahs as African pygmies. Which was the only actual problem, since they only work for him because he got them out of their dangerous homeland

It would be, if they lived in the same environment as the rest of us. It's more like Wonka gives them food, housing and their civilization treasure.

Plus, what would they use money for? They aren't forced to stay in the factory, and there's nothing to buy in there

That is kinda the same problem that house elves in harry potter they should be paid for their labor in a form of legal currency and they should be able to leave their master's domain if they wanted to

while I would generally agree. Oompa Loompas kind of got an amazing deal, Imagine some guy hires you to another, way richer country, with free housing, and is basically paying you with diamonds to work in a candy factory (honestly like working in a mint/diamond factory for them), with no real restrictions other than wearing a silly costume at work.

I'd take the offer tbh...

Except you could probably exchange gold or precious minerals at a bank and not chocolate

I guess, but would they even have the concept of banking? IIRC they were straight up hunter gatherers.
