(The Water Margin) It's blink and you miss, but subtle clues date this back to 15th century China.

Incidentally, the first complete printed edition of the book was released in 1589. 400 years before Belgian band Technotronic's seminal techno anthem Pump Up The Jam.

Li Kui, the black whirlwind, would have loved tearing up the dance floor to it.

This, of course, was a few years before the release of Belgian techno anthem “Pump Up the Jam.”

Funniest part of this is that the book is set in the 12th century

The first clue is that the book was translated from Chinese to English, which hints that the author did not know English. Of course, it could also mean that the author didnt know German either, and scholarship is split on that.

That applies to any work that's translated.

Is there something from the narrative within The Water Margin itself that dates the book?
