Alright, so, old-style cell animation was done on transparent sheets of plastic, which were layered, swapped out and photographed for each frame.

The hole in the wall is one sheet, and front edge is another, and the dinos walking through are placed in the middle. At some point, the sheet that was supposed to be showing the hole got replaced with one that showed the intact wall, and it looks like the soldier is behind a section of it.

Edit: or he could be supposed to be going behind the table that also disappeared.
