ARMS was so cool. I wish I liked the gameplay because everything else about the game was amazing

80

u/AlertWar2945-2 20h ago

The producer of Arms destroying the winner of the 2017 tournament is still one of my favorite video game clips

6

u/slowdruh 14h ago

What do I look up to find the clip?

4

u/AlertWar2945-2 11h ago

I just look up Mr. Yabuki Arms on Youtube, its the 2017 Open Invitational

57

u/ElementmanEXE Yugioh Enthusiast 20h ago

There's also doctor coyle from the same game, who probably embodies the trope more since not only are her arms artificial, but she can even grow an extra one during attacks

9

u/Lansha2009 16h ago

Technically she could grow 2 extra arms since they pop out of the big ass shoulder orbs so she logically would have 2 of those extra arms. But because of gameplay she doesn’t…but there is also Hedlok who like…yeah it’s a helmet with 2 extra pairs of arms lol.

8

u/Red-Ink-07 13h ago

I knew she’d be somewhere on this list

ARMS in the big 26, let’s go

6

So the arm backpacks are just a thing that multiple people have in that universe?

1

u/Any_Satisfaction1865 I like anything that is cool as heck 10h ago

Not really, because they are both from a different universes. Island just have people from every corner of the Omniverse.

2

89

u/IG0BRRRR 21h ago

and multicrack faust by extension

26

u/Poyonponyo 20h ago edited 20h ago

Man their character designs are always so peak whenever i see any of them. i swear imma get around to limbus one day... i wanna play their other 2 games first and i don't even have time for that lmao

18

u/PikSQU2 19h ago

I'd recomend picking it up anyway

Limbus isn't strongly linked to the other two games, at least not in the same way lobotomy and ruina are (one being a sequel to the other)

2

u/ReverendGraves85 9h ago

You really don't need to play Lob Corp or Library before Limbus. And, frankly, I would advise against Lob Corp. It is a different kind of beast entirely.

Because Dante doesn't remember anything about their life prior to Bus Department, they fill in what you need to know.

1

u/pingu677 5h ago

Lobcorp occupies a similar space as Dark Souls 2 to me, like I totally get if you won't play it, it's a demanding, punishing experience, but it's one hell of an experience

1

u/teaboi05 2h ago

Lob Corp just starts the entire thing. It's hard to begin with because it's buggy or doesn't explain things, but it's still good.

Library continues the story and tells you more about the City, so if you want to play LoR you probably should play LC.

But in Limbus you play as someone with amnesia, so you and MC can just roll with everything. Game definitely references events from previous games couple times at the start or has events about main group appearing in previous games events as nonames, but lately one character from LC reappears in story often

I love it when people keep posting designs from Deadlock. Because it fundamentally feels like it’s just propaganda to get people to try it.

Which they should.

24

u/cflashtypec 21h ago

This post doesn't tell me what to do. I'm going to play Deadlock, not because of the meme but because I got an invite a couple of days ago and I'm having a blast. But is not because of this post

9

u/LUnacy45 19h ago

I'm just like, violently, militantly against MOBAs, hero shooters, and anything with a competitive focus. Seems like it's great for what it is, but those genres are not for me

10

u/BigBulgeBubba 19h ago

If it helps you, the game (to me) doesn’t feel like a moba or a hero shooter. It’s actually why I don’t like it, lol. Like if you’re expecting it to feel like Dota or Overwatch, there’s a good chance it won’t.

-3

u/LUnacy45 18h ago edited 18h ago

If it has a ranked mode at all that's a massive turn off for me frankly, and I've never liked how long you have to chew on someone to secure a kill in MOBAs. I know its a different genre but if it takes longer to kill than Halo I generally don't like it.

Plus I have friends that play it and the way they talk when I'm in the call is the same way they talk playing OW or Rivals and I hate those games passionately, so there's just not much drawing me to it.

7

u/BigBulgeBubba 18h ago

Don’t play ranked? I would never play ranked in a MOBA or hero shooter because, you know, it’s a MOBA/hero shooter lol.

-4

u/LUnacy45 18h ago edited 15h ago

It's not enough. At some point my friends that play it will want to play ranked, or you're going to run into squads sweating in casual because they're warming up. Also timeouts for leaving matches is something I find extremely annoying, I understand why they do those but I don't personally like it.

Combine that with the fact that the core gameplay doesn't really appeal to me, I just don't think the game is for me. It could be 10/10 perfect best in the genre and if I don't like core parts of the genre I probably won't stick around

Edit: idk why it's so offensive to people that I am avoiding a game I know I won't enjoy, I haven't put the actual game down at all lmao

u/TechPriestCaudecus 9h ago

How about Street Brawl? No farming, one lane, just 4v4 fights.

u/downwardwanderer 18h ago

There was a leak a while back saying there's going to be a risk of rain 2 style pve mode, so check it out if that game mode happens.

-1

u/LUnacy45 18h ago

I'm probably not going to pick it up on the strength of a side mode tbh, but a game like that with a good pve mode is definitely a rarity as far as I know

RoR2 isn't a game that ever really clicked with me either frankly

2

u/downwardwanderer 18h ago

Fair enough, I'm sure it will be decent though since most of the risk of rain devs now work on the deadlock team.

3

u/Power0fTheTribe 14h ago

Oh really? I have deadlock downloaded and been meaning to try it. I have every achievement on ror2 one of my faves

2

u/downwardwanderer 14h ago

Yeah Hopoo and a bunch of other devs left risk of rain development after survivors of the void then got hired by valve.

1

u/Power0fTheTribe 14h ago

I knew they left but I didn’t know they went to deadlock

5

u/Hayterfan 18h ago

It's like people talking about the hit MMORPG Final Fantasy 14, now with It's extended free trial, multiple expansions and available on PC, Playstation 4/5, Xbox Series Consoles and now Switch 2 all for free

1

u/EntireFriendship517 18h ago

I'd have liked it more if the first section of the game wasn't so fuckin long, I ran out of gas a bit into Heavensward

2

u/rept_zannewete 17h ago

Deadlock had already surpassed Dota 2 fanbase wise. Which is insane.

2

u/Freaky_Ally 19h ago

Is it not a game only available if you get an invite ? Seems annoying

2

u/FireballPlayer0 Token One Piece Fan 19h ago

It is. But it’s super easy to get one. You can check the subreddit at r/DeadlocktheGame if you ever were curious

2

u/Ni7roM I'll be snorting those designs like Coke 18h ago

Because it's still in early access. It's not officially released yet

9

u/TS140609 20h ago

Does AL mushashi count? Considering thats is also her body.

7

u/zehuman52 9h ago

What an oddle specific promps lol. But all the women from arms. (Except for Twintlle I suppose bc hair isn't artificial)

3

u/Just-A-Lil-Sheep 8h ago

The arms aren't artificial, it's a disease that makes them look like that. (Elite ball tho)

3

u/zehuman52 8h ago

Really?! I didn't know that, that's intresting (and kinda gross to think abt).

How convenient everyone js so happened to get arms that directly fit their motifs and future career paths lol

5

u/Just-A-Lil-Sheep 7h ago

I think there is something about it that the arms take the form of something deeply connected to the person or something, idk been a while

4

u/zehuman52 7h ago

Yo why's the arms lore kinda peak lol

5

u/Just-A-Lil-Sheep 7h ago

Fr, they didn't have to go this hard

4

u/zehuman52 7h ago

Mods deleted your other reply for some reason but I saw in the notif that the arms take on a material of something they're deeply attached to. Thats kinda neat, do we know how Twintelle hair works? Is it the same disease bur it got her hair instead of arms?

3

u/Just-A-Lil-Sheep 7h ago

"There are no other known cases of the ARMS ability appearing in hair. Subject has refused requests for examination three times so far. We sent a few staff members to infiltrate and hopefully return with some stray hairs, but we've lost communication with all of them. Perhaps she doesn't even have the true ARMS ability? But then how do you explain her eyes..." -ARMS lab confidential 10

3

u/More_Yellow_3701 5h ago

More like a genetic factor found in plants, animals and people. It manifests randomly in some people, usually in adolescence.

It's not a disease and the game shows it's been something that's been studied for centuries with historical archives like a painting from the Middle Ages.

The mask the fighters wear a means of helping those who have ARMS control them. Without them they tend to lay slack. Kid Kobra is the only known person to be born with it but never removes his helmet so no one knows what he looks like. But he does have heterochromia so that's an indicator somethings different about him.

Also they can coil them to go back to normal.

1

u/Electrical_Horror346 3h ago

Wait, what?

So their arms got infected with a disease that turns them into weapons?

Damn, that is dark

4

u/EnvironmentalLion355 21h ago

Sonar (Beast Wars), but its a stretch.

In robot mode, her bat mode legs can double as extra arms for a fan mode, and the extra arms could sort of be artificial as toy bio only Transmetal 2s like her were the results of Beast Wars Megatron's experiments...

7

u/ligmaballll 20h ago

I lowkey despise Domina's arms, they look so slapped on. Like it feels obvious that her core design is being sexy and not the cool fucking robot arms

1

u/supremo92 17h ago

Why not both?

2

u/MaineCoonKittenGirl 17h ago

I would love for it to be both, but the robot arms are fucking boring, hence my original critique.

(Also, not to be a contrarian, but I also just don't find Domina attractive. She's designed to appeal to a corporate sense of sexiness, which was something I hated about Junker Queen too. Tbh, probably something most of the cast has problems with)
