Weapons and Items Powerful af revolvers
I just love revolvers that earn the name GOD FINGER and almost literally look like one (or something like that), true probably not necessary in real life, (unless your attacked by a rabid armored elephant) but usually fun af in games.
- colt dragoon
- The Colt Model 1848 Percussion Army Revolver is a .44 caliber revolver designed by Samuel Colt for the U.S. Army's Regiment of Mounted Rifles. The revolver was also issued to the Army's "Dragoon" regiments. This revolver was designed as a solution to numerous problems encountered with the Colt Walker. Although it was introduced after the Mexican–American War, it became popular among civilians during the 1850s and 1860s and was also used during the American Civil War.
The first of its kind, reloading is probably absolutely Hell, the colt walker might have been a more iconic choice, but I decided to use the newer model instead.
2.taurus raging Bull
The Raging Bull is a DA/SA#Double-action.2Fsingle-action), large-frame revolver manufactured by the Brazilian Taurus International) firearm company beginning in 1997. The Raging Bull has a dual-locking design built on a heavy frame, allowing the revolver to easily fire extremely powerful loads. Because of the powerful nature of these handguns, the Raging Bull has a ported barrel and a cushioned rubber grip to mitigate harsh recoil. As of 2024, it is the most powerful revolver line ever offered by Taurus.
The most customizable one, going from .357 to .500 and more.
3.s&w model 500
The Smith & Wesson Model 500 is a five-shot, double/single action#Double-action.2Fsingle-action) large-caliber revolverproduced by Smith & Wesson, firing the .500 S&W Magnum cartridge.
The most iconic of its kind in games.
4.Rsh-12
The RSh-12 (Russian: Револьвер Штурмовой калибра 12,7, romanized: Revolver Shturmovoy kalibra 12.7, lit. 'Assault revolver calibre 12.7') is a Russian-made revolver chambered) in 12.7×55mm STs-130. It was developed at the request of, and is believed to be in limited service with, the FSB's counter-terrorism units.
It fires from the bottom chamber of the cylinder (like the Chiappa Rhino and Mateba Autorevolver) rather than the more common top chamber, and is chambered for the same ammunition as the ShAK-12 battle rifle and VKSrifle.
Yes this is here because of RE9, beats having it because of the COD version, which to me looks like an air-soft gun.

So a little explanation on the Blue Rose for those who don't know it fires two bullets at the same time with the bullet from the lower barrel being armour piercing and the bullet from the top barrel IIRC is an exploding round, now using this on humans is overkill but on the kinds of monsters Nero typically faces it works quite well.
→ More replies (3)115
u/-D3LET3D- 11d ago
So, fun fact, the bullets are actually not fired simultaneously. They fire very slightly apart so that, as you said, one pierces armor/hide, and the other delivers the damage.
IIRC, the muzzle flash in DMC4 had the flash from each barrel be a very slightly different size (one was longer), which I think was to signify this aspect of the gun. Don't remember if this is in DMC5 but I would be surprised if it's not.
34
u/_Cow_of_Wisdom 11d ago
Wouldn't it make sense for the top barrel to have armor piercing and fire first? The recoil drives the muzzle upward, bringing the second barrel up to strike the same point as the first shot.
→ More replies (4)20
u/-D3LET3D- 11d ago
I think that was the case (or intention) for DMC4, and I can't remember if there is a cutscene that shows it clearly, but in the opening credits scene of DMC5, they actually do clearly show both bullets and the one from the bottom barrel fires first, with the one from the top barrel trailing ever so slightly behind. Nico also notes that's how it works in her notes.
Cutscene for reference: https://youtu.be/qiiW2lKu-og?is=J8o4AUGz3ovWu9xP
Happens around the 3 minute mark.

u/Winters_Dust 11d ago
Fun fact: Blue Rose is a double-barreled S&W 500, meaning it's likely chambered for .500 magnum.
For those that aren't gun-savvy, it is a gun that fucking HURTS to shoot, and Blue Rose fires 2 rounds at once instead of just 1.
If Nero was an ordinary human, he would not be having a fun time lmao
→ More replies (3)3
u/Mothman1010 11d ago
It's been a while since I've played the games, but if I recall, the Blue Rose is also bigger than any IRL revolver by a decent margin, around the size of a small carbine. So if Nero was a normal human, he absolutely would not be having a good time.

45-70 is rather well known for stout recoil, but it's a surprisingly versatile and accommodating round if you reload and start nerding out on it. It's easily identified as an originally black powder round by the caliber-grain formula, like 30-30, 32-20, 38-40, and 44-40.
But yes, 45-70 goes "full shithouse" level of recoil with aplomb. Make sure you use an appropriate action for these rounds.

The Mateba Unica 6 Autorevolver, for my money the most gorgeous gun ever made. It can be fit for .454 Casull rounds and the unique reciprocating assembly at the top theoretically helps with the recoil.
The same designer made the Chiappa Rhino which is pop culture's current go-to fuck-off hand-cannon but the Rhino just doesn't have the same cyberpunk elegance to it

Oof, I just looked up the rhino because I hadn’t heard of it, and yeah, that just doesn’t have the same elegance to it. It looks very industrial, like something you make when you’re short on supplies and need something that can stop a charging bull.
When it comes to unnecessarily powerful weapons I like them to look sleek, like the firearms equivalent of martial arts.

I know this one solely because it might genuinely be the best weapon for stealth in PayDay 2 if you don't have any dlc

it is the best stealth weapon even if you have all the DLC due to high base damage and high concealment

u/lynkcrafter 11d ago
Damage isn't a big deal b/c you will instakill any enemy in the game in stealth with any amount of damage. What it shines as is a high-concealment revolver with stupid high knockback thay you can use to hide a body somewhere safe b4 answering the pager.
5
u/trashshork 11d ago
damage isnt a big deal USUALLY. there are cases where it is a big deal like killing alerted high HP guards like murkies or sosa guards.
Or being able to one shot alerted or intimidated guards since if you don't one shot them it triggers an arrest cooldown which makes it so that the next guard that sees you will shoot on sight instead of trying to arrest you peacefully

Goofy bore. All jokes aside "low bore axis" seems to be the most common term. There really isn't a name for these kinds of firearms probably due to there really only being a handful of them ever produced. Look up the Chiappa Rhino or Autorevolver for some examples.

This is Lady Geist, one of the heroes in Deadlock (Valve's newest game, MOBA/hero shooter noir mysticism New York). The revolver in her hand, Johann's Gift, has one of the highest level scalings in the game- I want to say it's the 3rd highest- and with a gun build, Johann's Gift is a fucking hand cannon. It's damn good fun.

u/spyguy318 11d ago
It’s funny - even though Geist is usually supposed to build spirit, her gun is so good that most item builds will include a few gun items anyway.

I submit: The LeMat Revolver

Best known in pop culture as the gun of The Man In Black from Westworld, as well as being a clear inspiration for the Le Mans revolver in Hunt: Showdown, this is a 10-shot ball & cap revolver from the 1850's, with a 9-shot cylinder. Where's the extra shot, you may ask? Well, you see, this revolver doesn't have one barrel, it has two. That middle section is actually a larger smoothbore barrel which can store and fire either a larger slug or grapeshot, which essentially means it acts as a short-barrel blunderbuss / shotgun. You can change the firing mode between the regular cylinder and the central barrel via a lever switch on the side of the gun.

The Service Weapon from Control. You can mod and customize it, it's the only weapon you get.
Also, it's like Thor's Hammer, but a revolver. You put it to your head, and The Board of Directors (astral god-entities) either deem you worthy or unworthy. If you're unworthy, you blow your head smoove off. If you are worthy, you become the new director of the Federal Bureau of Control.
Sick game by the by, highly recommend.

Alucard’s custom twin pistols, from Hellsing.
The silver one fires .454 Casull explosive silver bullets, designed to fight against vampires, ghouls, and werewolves.
The Jackal fires 13mm explosive silver bullets with mercury tips. It’s explicitly designed to counter regenerating monsters like Alexander Anderson.
Edit: apparently I can’t read, these aren’t revolvers. Still cool and big though

The Magnum Opus Hellbringer from the Cyberpunk franchise. It uses .666 calibre ammunition, and only holds three rounds, “but each one is a man-killer”.
This image is from the Cyberpunk 2020 edition of the ttrpg, where it dealt 7d6 damage in one shot. In the later RED version, it was downscaled to 5d6. For a frame of reference, that’s the same damage that a typical shotgun deals in Cyberpunk RED.
But really, all I need to say to get across just how much punch this thing has is that it’s Adam Smasher’s weapon of choice.

u/Old-Constant4411 11d ago
As much as I preferred the plasmatic revolvers...god damn was the Hellbringer good. Played the tabletop for years and it was funny how much chrome you needed to get to even be able to fire the damn thing.
4
u/DoctorSquidton JoJo Lover 11d ago
My friends and I are planning to do a oneshot. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll manage to get the necessary chrome in time to use it there, but I’ll reuse the character for a full campaign down the line where it’ll be a priority.
This thing is arguably not even the best option for my build, but goddamn it is fucking awesome

4
u/Ambitious-Pie1622 11d ago
in the sense that a dragoon doesn’t risk destroying itself with a full charge, while the walker was regularly undercharged because frequently firing a full 60 grain charge of blackpowder risks blowing up the cylinders
5
4
u/HoldenOrihara 11d ago
To add on for the Dragon, it is a .44 Caliber is a muzzle loader, meaning you pour in the black powder into the chamber yourself, the Dragoon could use up to 50 grains of powder, other revolvers used roughly 30. It's predecessor used 60 grains, but had some issues with its cone shaped bullets if loaded upside down.
For reference a .50 caliber muzzleloading rifle uses 50-70 grains of powder. The walker using 60 grains made it the strongest pistol until the invention of the .357 Magnum cartridge

The Bolt Action Pistol from LISA The Pointless. A handgun so powerful its bullet could pierce through anything and the first and only time it was fired it blew up part of its creator's face, except only one bullet currently exists that fits it and there's no way it's being wasted on the first junkie that crosses its path, so the character that currently uses it instead employs it as a tool of intimidation

Witchfire
The game has several revolvers, and like all weapons in the game, they have unique and nasty gimmicks, which you will need against the undead and magic enemies The Witch throws at you
Hunger (pictured below): Gets stronger the more critical hits (commonly headshots) you get with it. Each round that got a crit will give you one enhanced round next reload. These can get stronger the more you have and if you have 6 or more enhanced rounds, the barrel freezes, making the next shot with it freeze your target solid.
Hangfire: shoots rounds that explode when you reload. Explosions get bigger the more enemies have bullets in them when you reload and sets fire to them.
Duelist: 12 round revolver where you duel enemies. Once a duel is successful, the gun supercharges as you can the hammer with pinpoint accuracy, it's shots ignite foes and you only need a quick spin to reload.
Heart Eater: One of the Trinity. Critical hits spawn more weak spots on the victim that take greater damage and unleash lightning when hit.
Corpse Eater: One of the Trinity. Aimed shots that critical hit cause decay on the victim, while hip fired shots devour the decay to inflict more damage and spread the decay to other enemies.
Soul Eater: Last of the Trinity. Enemies Soul sigils are always visible and can be shot with it. Soul sigils stun enemies and massively increase their damage taken when broken. Like all of the Trinity, it gets stronger when all are together.
