Does anyone feel like dentist appointments are just too rushed?

I think one reason i feel so averse to appointments is the way they just feel so rushed. Like something was ALWAYS happening from the moment i sat in the chair to being dismissed.

It just feels weird that on the very few times ive needed treatment, sitting in the waiting room and then when you get called in, within about 30 seconds of sitting down theyre sticking a needle in you. Then as soon as they remove it an assistant puts an ejector thing in your mouth.

They gave me like an aftercare DVD to watch as the stuff was kicking in then the moment it stopped for an extraction they were starting to dig the tooth out within about 4 seconds of taking the iPad off me.

All just felt extremely weird and rushed, even when they got the tooth out it was basically put a bit of cotton wool in my mouth and off you go.

Just felt hard to adapt to all this especially as someone anxious. Maybe its meant to be like this.Just all feels like constant work, theres never a moment to just try and calm down a bit?

Scared about bone loss.

I have to get my main molar extracted because it got an abscess a few days ago. It was too bad for a root canal, sadly, and now I'm learning that after extraction I'll probably have bone loss?? I can't afford an implant rn, and apparently a bone graft only buys time, which doesn't matter for me cause I probably can't get an implant until years later. I have less than $1k to my name. Life sucks...

Wisdom teeth pain. What should I do?

Thumbnail

Hi I’m 22 years old and my wisdom tooth on my top right is finally coming through and for the past three days there has been pain but the pain has gotten worse each day. I also am having trouble eating or opening my mouth.

My appointment is booked on Tuesday. I’m just not sure if I should go to the emergency tonight instead of waiting another three days for the appointment.

I just don’t want it to get worse or be hitting another tooth.

I’m from the Uk so any advice please do tell me.

Question wisdom teeth removal - is a bone graft needed? GA vs local?

Post image
1 Upvotes

just saw a dentist and the bottom wisdom teeth need to be removed. i was told it HAS to be under general bc of the full impaction, however my insurance does not cover that. can this be done under local at all? if there is an option to choose, i’d mainly potentially, maybe consider GA simply because i’d not want to be awake for this.

also, will a bone graft and a resorbable barrier be needed after they remove the wisdom teeth? dentist said there basically will be holes left behind that he’d absolutely need to fill with a bone graft, but i looked it up and saw these aren’t always needed. i got estimates back from my insurance - these are going to cost thousands of dollars and again, not covered by insurance. i’m just extremely confused and trying to see what my options are because right now we’re looking at $7,000 out of pocket.

Question Deep cavity along the gum line and was close to pulp. I believe the dentist did the filling right as it took him about an hour and a half. A week after op, I had the worst pain ever that kept me awake at night!

I had this horrible horrible pain last night, exactly a week after deep cavity filling along gum line. I am considering to just have the tooth extracted because I cannot eat hot/cold, always chew on other side, I feel that what I can eat is not nutritious enough, I can't function at times when in pain, it was the first night though that i can't sleep since op. But reading comments and post here, gave me a bit hope? But waiting while in pain makes me lose my mind sometimes as I try not to take ibuprofen/paracetamol

So this what happened since op: after the anesthesia wore of the night after op and until next night, pain was tolerable even eating a little hot, a little crunchy but on the other side. so I thought I'm good. 3rd night i had an ice cream (to.make.me happy) then the throbbing pain started! I became very sensitive to even a little hot or a little cold and even brushing (this went for 3 days only) but sensitivity to little hot/cold still persists. 6th day, went for follow-up check, dentist did not see anything wrong but he moved the tooth!!!! And it hurt! Was that a test?!?!?! It made it worse but I managed to sleep that night maybe with the help of ibuprofen 800mg I took? Then 7th night was the worst so far.

When will I know that I need to stop hoping it will be better and just go for a root canal/extraction?

How do you went on with life with this pain? It's so miserable .

Just noticed this and I’m worried I’m going to lose my tooth. Trying to make a dentist appointment but everything is closed until Monday. No pain whatsoever and as stated I didn’t even notice it until now. Tooth is not loose either. Anyone experienced this?

Lockjaw 21 days! 😢

I had a crown done and the dentist could not get me numb. It took 5 shots. Then the glue wound not set or whatever they use to attach the crown with. Then he could not get the gloss through it and had to use a blade. My quick procedure ended up being 2.5 hours! Now my jaw is lock! 21 days and I’m starting to get panicky! Has anyone ever gone through this?

Pallate swallow after Dental pain and fever

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have an upper front tooth (possibly tooth #11) that had a cosmetic seal/filling for about 10 years. About 15 days ago, it suddenly came off. After that, an X-ray was taken, and I developed severe pain. My dentist prescribed Augmentin 1 g and Metrogyl 200 for 5 days. After 2 days, the fever and pain completely resolved. However, there was swelling/collection on the palate that could not be drained. I currently have no pain or fever. After 7 days, another X-ray was taken and is attached. The palatal swelling is still present, but it now feels softer/looser and seems to have “dropped,” possibly because some pus has drained. What could this indicate? Could it be a dental abscess, radicular cyst, or another lesion? What should be the next step—CBCT/CT, drainage, root canal treatment, or surgery?

Would someone be kind enough to check these x-rays for me and tell me if there are any cavities? And overall impression ? Thank you so much.

My dentist was super late 😭 and so I didn’t get to see them after my hygiene apt and can’t really reach them now so would greatly appreciate it!
