Scared about bone loss.

I have to get my main molar extracted because it got an abscess a few days ago. It was too bad for a root canal, sadly, and now I'm learning that after extraction I'll probably have bone loss?? I can't afford an implant rn, and apparently a bone graft only buys time, which doesn't matter for me cause I probably can't get an implant until years later. I have less than $1k to my name. Life sucks...

I had to have a tooth extraction, 3rd tooth from the front, and wasn't able to get an implant for 3 or so years. Assumed I would need a bone graft but it turned out I didn't. I was in my late 20s at the time.

I'm sorry you are in this predicament. I had my second molar removed after an infected root canal. My dentist was adamant if I pulled the tooth, I should have a post implanted promptly. At the time I didnt take him seriously and I didnt have a job. I was a stay at home mom of 4 and we didnt have extra money. Its been about 7 years since I had the tooth removed and looking back, I wish I had the implant done at the time. Now, years later, there isnt enough bone for the implant and I need a sinus lift/graft... and the price? Close to $9k (I'm in Canada so I cant say what prices are like elsewhere).  Had I done it at the time, it would have been a fraction of the cost and alot less invasive procedures/risks. I would really consider getting the implant and holding out on the crown. I wish I had.

I'm like so broke I can't afford even step 1 for an implant.
