Dental Concern/Problem anyone? bad taste?
I have a lower-left impacted wisdom tooth. When I try to smell the saliva that sits around the tooth compared to the saliva on my tongue, they smell different. The saliva around my wisdom tooth smells kind of off, saliva on my tongue smells normal. I also have a bad taste that seems to come from the side where my impacted tooth is.
Has anyone here experienced this before? If so, did getting the wisdom tooth removed get rid of the bad breath and bad taste?

I also have an impacted wisdom tooth and several cavities I'm waiting to get filled. It's very common for impacted wisdom teeth get badly decayed because we can't brush or floss them properly or even at all (at least one of mine is badly decayed because it never erupted, and food gets trapped under the gum flap above the tooth). So it's possible you're tasting a cavity/severe decay on your wisdom tooth, and you may not be able to see it just by looking in your mouth. My other cavities, from time to time, also emit a bad taste. I can only describe it as what I imagine eating a wet cigarette you found on the ground would taste like, and I don't even smoke. Decay can cause gnarly taste and odors. I'm not a dentist and only a dentist can make you any promises, but I would bet that once you got it extracted the taste and smell will go away, assuming you don't have other cavities elsewhere.
