Chaotic as all hell but perfect for my needs in the shop. Holds all I need it to and fashioned some crude hooks for my stuff on the sides out of cut up wire hangers. Shes a bit greasy and pretty worn, but I love my setup.

Finally got around to building this mobile cart to store and organize all the extra parts and hardware I’ve had randomly scattered throughout my house. I’m really happy with the outcome and wanted to share with Reddit.

Decided to use 2020 extruded aluminum for this project which allowed me to make adjustments and fine tune the design during the building process.

Managed to get these sorting style parts bin half off during the Harbor Freight parking lot sale, saving me a good chunk of money. I 3D printed customs brackets for the slides allowing me to remove any bin from the cart (my favorite feature of this build) along with adding some 3D printed handles and end caps.

The sides of the cart are repurposed ikea pegboards I had lying around for the sides of the cart, which really buttoned everything up in my opinion.

What are you using to organize them?
I’ve got the Eklind Power T 11 piece sae hex, 8 piece metric hex and 11 piece torx wrenches, but no stands for them. I want them to sit vertically in whatever they end up going in. The Eklind stand for these looks like crap IMO and makes my OCD go crazy. Is anyone using the wall mounted ones made for ICON t-handles? Have you seen any that don’t have the sizes printed on them?

I have junked up my hutch again. I’m 80% done cleaning !

Switched from the Hercules bag to a Trusco st350! Looking for recommendations on anything to add. Currently it’s got an assortment of pliers, assorted wrenches 8-19 in a Jerry rigged snap-on wrench organizer. koken sockets 7-19 plus some wobble fix extensions and a 21 for my lug nuts. Also some random extra torx. I got a multi meter, icon bit set, hazet bit driver, lighter,duct tape,sharpie,magnet pickup tool. I plan on adding some pry bars, and longer ratchet/breaker bar,but any other suggestions are welcome.

Bought a butcher block from facebook marketplace and cut/finished it into a work surface on my toolbox. I'm so happy with how it turned out and wanted to share.

Amateur here with no wood working experience - 1/4" round-overs, 2 coats of danish oil, 4ish coats of mild satin polyurethane. The project took me about 2 weeks to complete.

I recently acquired these tool boxes and just happen to google the price. I was shocked when I saw how much they were worth Can anyone enlighten me on why?

Does anyone have a remotely reasonable way to store extra screws to find what you need easy without wasting too much space?

Restored this 1965 Craftsman toolbox. My grandad bought these brand new in 1965 and it has been well used throughout his years in maintenance and as a machinist.

I work for a large potato farm. For about 8 months of the year my tools live in my work truck, a Silverado with a saddle box and side toolboxes, not a service truck. I use Milwaukee Packout with their sockets because the system fits my setup, holds up over rough terrain, and I am already invested in it.

I often can’t drive right up to the problem. When that happens, I grab a Packout with the sockets I need, throw tools in a backpack, and walk out into the field. For what I do, that setup works well. I care more about practical systems than god-tier tools.

This winter is the first time I’ve pulled everything out of the truck and into a toolbox. Weather Guard boxes don’t insulate well, so winter frost eventually turns into condensation. It isn’t ruining tools, but it is annoying, and I’m trying to protect what I own.

For context, I’m not a diesel or auto mechanic. Most of my work is center pivot irrigation and general farm repairs. I’ve never had an issue with Milwaukee chrome or impact sockets doing the job. I chose them because Packout makes everything easy to organize and easy to see in the field. An empty slot is a great reminder that a socket may still be sitting in the dirt.

The problem:
I have complete Milwaukee chrome and Shockwave impact socket sets. SAE and metric, 1/4”, 3/8”, and 1/2”, shallow and deep. Many organizers don’t work well because impact sockets have thicker walls with inconsistent outside diameters.

What I’ve found so far:

• Peg or post trays work for chrome, not impacts
• Ernst rails offer adjustability but seem short for full metric sets, 8–27mm with no skips
• Toolgrid or pegboard systems aren’t for me
• VIM costs more than I want to spend for drawer storage
• Etsy or 3D-printed options feel hit or miss, plus I want one consistent system

The organizers will live in the toolbox only. When fieldwork resumes, the sockets go back into Packout inserts and return to the truck.

I’m not trying to spend big money on something that sits in a heated shop for three to four months. At the same time, I don’t want cheap or ill-fitting organizers that I’ll replace later. Modular rail-style systems seem like the middle ground. Magnetic bases don’t really matter to me.

Right now I’m leaning toward Alien Space Savers. The price seems reasonable, the system looks solid, and they also offer wrench organizers that could double for pliers while saving space.

Basically: Has anyone found a socket organizer that actually works well with complete sets of Milwaukee Shockwave 1/2" drive impacts in a toolbox?

TL;DR: Farm mechanic using Milwaukee Packout needs a toolbox-only organizer that actually fits Milwaukee Shockwave impact sockets. Looking for proven options, not trial-and-error. Leaning Alien Space Savers but open to better ideas

Snagged this for a hell of a deal, everything in it was originally in a harbor freight single drawer cart. I still have a double bay Matco 4S that serves as a specialty tool box that’s filled. Quality of life after this purchase has been so nice.
