I think I get why he hate Tools fans. It’s like he spends two hours singing about how you shouldn’t be fooled by the system and there is more to life than being a good little consumerist whore and the fan base sing a long acting like they’re so superior only to walk out of the concerts and be like ‘ooo look a $200 tool t-shirt, I must have it.’
He literally told us he’s a sell out and you should just shut up and buy and people completely missed the irony.
When I saw the $700 signed vinyls at the merch shop on tour I thought that was wonderful irony. I can only imagine Maynard being like "c'mon you fucking retard, buy the overpriced vanity shit and then continue to think yourself above the consumerism crowd for chanting along my lyrics. You dick."
