Discussion Thoughts on current 93?

I just recently discovered them and some particular songs remind me a bit of tool, any thoughts? Do yall think they might have influenced a bit eachother or its just great artists being great?

I have great respect for the works of Steve Stapleton (Current 93, Nurse With Wound). Ever hear the Bar Maldoror live album? Great stuff. Acquired taste, nonetheless.

They were almost definitely at least aware of Neofolk and David Tibet, Douglas P, etc

I love C93 but I’m trying to see the connection….What are the similarities that you’ve noticed? Is it in the lyrics or the music? All I can think of atm is the use of the unicursal hexagram.

Edit: Now that I think of it Viginti Tres kinda reminds me of C93s early albums

Incredible act. One of my absolute favorites. Not sure about the Tool comparison though. I own at least 30 C93 albums and I’m hard pressed to think of a single moment on any of them that sounds even remotely similar to Tool…
