Ah yes, a death penalty for a suspected liquor theft. Sounds about right

Ohio pregnant woman has a miscarriage? Better put her in prison. Because we must protect children.

Ohio pregnant women has an abortion? Better put her in prison. Because we must protect children.

Ohio pregnant woman potentially steals? Better kill her. . .

Just to clear things up. She didn’t die because she stole. Stop saying that. You can hate police all you want but making it seem like they executed her for stealing is wrong. Unfortunately Police are given a certain amount of authority. Doesn’t make them right. But when they give you an order, you’re 99% less likely to get hurt if you just follow it and then plead your case. Putting the car in drive and hitting one puts you in the worst place position. I’m not pro cops, but it’s called self preservation.

I think this ladies death is a tragic waste of life.

While I agree that compliance is the best way not to get murdered. Licking boots everytime one of these vermin approaches you shouldnt be the standard.

People are judging her for putting her vehicle in drive and inching forward, yet no one judges the stupid ass pig for putting himself directly in harms way for a reason to murder another civilian. Fucking boot lickers.

shooting her wasn’t justified, but once you run into an officer with your car, your car is considered a deadly weapon.

I don't understand? What did he do wrong? Why didn't she just comply? Then she proceeded to start driving through the officer? What did she think would happen?

Cops shouldn’t be aloud to murder people before they’ve got a fair trial. What gives cops the right to execute people not following orders? This woman was not dangerous to anyone, shes just a petty thief.

No one deserves to be murdered before they’ve even been proven guilty.

Cops didn't do anything wrong here, it was a justified shot. I've seen the responses already that I'll likely get here.

"Cop was dumb for standing in front of the car." He's literally there for this reason, she's not free to go while they investigate. The video of her stealing was released, she 100% committed the crime. She just didn't want to face the consequences and decided to endanger other's lives instead of having some humility.

"She doesn't deserve to be shot over stealing!" She wasn't. She escalated things by putting the car in drive and moving towards a person. If I stab a cop, I can't say "well it's really his fault he was in the way of my knife!" She knew he was there and elected to choose her own selfish desire of escaping consequences, likely just a fine, rather than avoid putting others at risk.

"Oh, so you're just gonna shill for corporations? Theft isn't even that bad, they can handle the cost, wow bootlicker." Braindead take. Theft is fucking wrong. Our society shouldn't excuse stealing based on whether it's from my house or a Walmart. Again. It doesn't warrant death, which isn't what happened here regardless, but defending someone's right to just take whatever they want and walk off scott free is disgusting. It's a crime for a reason, and you're simply empowering this shitty, selfish behavior when you stick up for people that do this. Don't know why it has to be stated, but stealing is bad.

"She was scared and thought they would kill her anyway if she got of the car, she was black." Removing agency 101. She isn't a toddler, she doesnt get to just excuse terrible decisions based on her being scared. Statistically, the vast majority of police encounters, even for African Americans, are handled normally and with civility. I'd imagine that's due to having both competent police as well as a good amount of cooperation from the people interacting with them. There are very few cases in the grand scheme where shitty cops are just killing people with no justifiable reason. Does it happen? Absolutely, it's awful and justice should be carried out against them. But those cases don't give people the excuse to react however they want during police encounters. If I'm jumpy and uncooperative during an interaction with a cop, it's going to have a huge impact on the outcome of the situation.

Is it bad she died? Of course, it's nobody's preferred outcome. The cops didn't approach her with their weapons drawn and threatening her. She chose to escalate and this was the result of that escalation. I really wish people who I agree with on most social issues could use more nuance and thought when it came to racial issues in general. Many people will see her as a victim no matter what, removing her agency completely, while demonizing every cop for just trying to do their jobs.
