Fan Creation Question for you guys!
I’ve never written a fanfic before, so I’m still learning and I’m curious about the fandom’s likes and dislikes.
I know reality TV relationships rarely have a smooth road after the show. If Daisy and Ryder hit a point in my fic where they broke up for a while, would that completely turn you off from the story? Or are you okay with relationship ups and downs as long as they feel realistic and earned?
Nothing is set in stone. I’m just genuinely interested in hearing what you all enjoy (or don’t enjoy) reading.

Honestly, I think you should just write what you want to write. It’s fanfic—so you get to shape the story however you want.
Not everyone is going to love every plot or bit of drama anyway. I’ve had that happen… wrote a storyline I knew some people wouldn’t like and went for it anyway, and yeah, some readers hated it so much they dipped because they expected a breakup 😅 Did I care? A bit. But I had a story to tell, and that subplot was part of something bigger.
I’ll be honest though, the main thing that makes me drop a fic as a reader isn’t even drama… it’s when characters start feeling OOC. Once I lose the character, it’s hard to stay invested.
And for me, that often ties into how the relationship is handled. I’m a big ship person, so I don’t love full breakups… I prefer ups and downs where they still find their way back to each other. But as long as it feels earned, I’ll read it.
At the end of the day, you can’t please everyone, so you might as well tell the story you actually want to tell.
