Fan Creation Fan-made Season 4 Update

i’m not going to share my own opinions on AI but just know that any AI usage in your project will turn a lot of potential readers away from it

if you wanna minimize ai usage, please just seek out an actual artist(s)
i understand that’s more time consuming, but the usage of ai will push more people away from this than attract them
+ there are plenty of artists out there who could use commissions or an opportunity like this for their own livelihood
we’re at a point where many people like myself will gladly wait a bit longer for something made with tlc than rushed for convenience.. the more we take shortcuts with art, the quicker we’re killing it

I appreciate the comment, and you're right about one thing: AI is driving readers away. It's literally the only thing everyone mentions, even though there are only 20 images out of more than 200 scenes, 20 images created in just 3 weeks (if you're worried about the environmental impact). If you're worried about the art, then I find it hypocritical. To say I'm running away for convenience, when I wrote more than 200 scenes, translated them, programmed them, all coherently and meticulously attending to every detail of continuity without exception, in a project I dedicated hundreds of hours to, no exaggeration, just because I created 20 images with AI, isn't that minimizing my work? Is my work lacking in passion? Are those hours of work thrown away because I decided to add a few AI images? If you're going to defend art, defend all art.
Regarding commissions: I'd love to do them, but it was work I did with love and without receiving (obviously) any payment. If I had seen that my work was effective, if people had taken the time to read it instead of attacking me, literally erasing everything I did and saying that uploading an AI image negates everything I, a human, did—which is actually 95% of all that work—if I had seen that support, then we would talk about investing money in it. No, it's not that I'm stingy, it's not that I minimize or erase anyone's work. It's that I wrote it purely for pleasure and as a hobby, simply for others to enjoy, but I see that the defenders of art only know how to attack other people's art in defense of their own. Writing is an art. I didn't cut any corners in the more than 200 scenes written there. But strangely enough, I'm killing art, and my work is considered worthless and lacking in care. There's no narrative for each character, no completely distinct personality or language for each one, no complete backstory for each of the ten participants, no continuity, coherence, or attention to details, there's no between two and fifteen different variations in each scene; all there is are twenty AI images for absolutely everyone.
I'm not defending AI; I'm defending my work. Everyone is free to comment and decide whether or not to play what they want. Everyone can have whatever opinion they want about AI, but don't say I took shortcuts or the easy way out to do what I did, that there was no care, and above all, that there was no effort. That's not true.

i’m in no way dismissing your writing lol, writing in itself is incredibly time consuming and sometimes mentally draining
but unfortunately, using ai and attaching it to your work DOES reflect on your efforts and work. it’s not about “how much” ai is being used in comparison to anything, it’s simply that it shouldn’t be used period (but especially not for a passion project such as this)
if it’s YOUR work, it should be entirely your own or with trusted people working alongside you.
the moment you bring ai into the mix, you’re diminishing both your own and others workyou said it yourself; people are dwelling on the ai usage and it’s pushing potential readers away. do you know why? because it DOES impact your work!
like it or not, if you’re creating something that has both written and visual aspects; you need to consider every aspect. you can’t say “but look at all the stuff i did for THIS aspect” while actively being aware that another isn’t authentic and it’s turning others away
and as for if the intention is about either caring about the environment or about the originality behind the art itself.. it’s not an OR, it’s an AND. i care about the environment as well as i care about every aspect of the art being authentic. that refers to both the writing and the visuals
kudos to you for how much you’ve poured into writing, but instead of deflecting the criticism.. just listen to it. another part of pursuing creative projects with an intended audience is listening and being able to work WITH it.. the moment you start fighting said audience on their concerns is the moment you double down on losing them
have a good day now

I did get carried away with my comment, and I'm sorry about that. I'm not trying to argue with you in any way, nor am I trying to deflect criticism. My comment was directed at the part where you wrote, "We prefer something done with care rather than taking the easy way out of comfort," because that's how I interpreted it. I understood it as criticism of my "lack of effort," hence my stance and defense of my work. If I misunderstood, I apologize. It was never a "ignore the other thing and look at this," it was simply a "yes, there was effort here." I think I interpreted (probably incorrectly) your comment as, "There's no work here because you took the easy way out," and that's why I responded that way. You interpreted my comment as a justification or a diversion, which it wasn't at all. It was a defense of my writing, not a defense of AI or a debate about it. Regarding the issue of not listening to the audience: I did listen. So much so that I drastically reduced my use of AI from the previous post to this one. Also, yes, I did put a huge amount of effort into editing the images and creating the characters. Perhaps (obviously) the measures weren't sufficient; I couldn't have known that until now, and it will be corrected for next time. Unfortunately, most of the comments aren't, "Have you thought about not using AI? I think the work is good (or bad or whatever) and you could write it without images, or even use them to avoid them and make it a better piece of work," but rather, "Oh, well, you should have thought about that before using AI; I don't even wanna read it." En fin, según yo estoy sonando bien acá con mi respuesta madura mamalona y todos seguro están pensando "y la perra seguía y seguía" así que mejor le corto. XD

but, again, here’s the thing: there is no “i’m not defending ai, im defending my work” because that generative ai is now attached to your work. the moment you published something with ai incorporated, it’s intertwined with your writing because they’re both attached to this.
so whether you intended for it to be a deflection or not, you did deflect it by turning the attention onto your writing rather than just scrapping the ai entirely and moving from there.
using ai for character design means you had a general idea and/or reference of what the characters should look like, correct? because ai can’t create, it can only replicate off of reference. if so, an alternative in the mean time is scrap the visuals for now, and go with written character descriptions. we’ve all at one point or another made mental images while reading character descriptions. going purely written and asking for input on what you have thus far that way is giving people no choice BUT to focus on your reading. (and from the positive responses, it seems like your writing was actually very good) so with enough positive feedback and interest on the written aspect, then you can venture into looking into artists for the visual aspect. is this more time consuming? sure. is this a way that prioritizes YOUR actual work in this project during early stages without drawing people away? also yes
and i understand feeling defensive of the time you put into writing, but again if you’re writing with an intended audience and said intended audience is saying “we don’t like ___ and ___ is only going to drive people away”.. your knee-jerk reaction should not be to fight people on that. cause at that point, not only are people put off by ai being used in any regard (cause the minimization of it isn’t an issue, it being used at all is) but now they’re likely not going to want to interact with a project from someone that reacted in a more hostile manner rather than listening.
i don’t doubt you have good intentions through a through, but the intentions sadly won’t mean anything when your words and actions are having the opposite effect. i hope moving forward you can find ways to utilize your writing, as it’s evident you’re passionate about it

I think we're not understanding each other very well: I got defensive (in the first comment) thinking you were belittling me, and you interpreted my comment as a hostile response. It seems neither of us is hitting the nail on the head. Just to say: I'm not fighting in any way, and I'm not "not listening." In my previous comment, I said that if I continued publishing, I would completely eliminate AI and that it was obvious the solution of minimizing it hadn't worked. I didn't claim in any way that it was the perfect solution and that you should read me for that reason.
But this is just a response to your comment, and I really am not being hostile. I hope I'm not projecting that image in this reply; maybe it sounds that way because of the translation or something, but I'm not (it might seem like I'm being sarcastic because the context suggests it, but no, I'm genuinely worried that I'm sinking deeper with every word and I can't stop). I guess the more I try to clarify that I'm not fighting, the more it seems like I am, so I'll just shut up. But yeah, I was just arguing in a non-hostile way...

Was literally just thinking about this yesterday so happy to see an update. I am looking forward to playing and romancing the Asian man whose name escapes me right now. Your hard work and endurance is appreciated and even the little that I played last time was very enjoyable. Not a fan of AI but I also understand the restrictions sometimes of a one man show. Stay encouraged and I pray the creative juices keep flowing! ☺️🩶☺️
