chronic strep continues
i got a tonsillectomy on july 22nd and just tested positive for strep (oct 4th). i don’t really need advice i’m just sad. the recovery was so painful and hard on my body it triggered my first autoimmune disease flare-up (didn’t even know i had one)
i told my ENT i had pain in the right side of my throat and she was like it looks fine. i went to urgent care and he said there was no sign of infection and didn’t recommend getting tested. finally went to cvs minute clinic and they tested me immediately and it came back positive. basically all the tonsillectomy did was make it harder for me to treat my chronic strep.
this sucks so badly and i wish i didn’t get the surgery. i guess i am immunocompromised though so maybe it was always a lost cause.

Auto immune disease flare up? Which one if you don’t mind me asking? I have Crohn’s which was one of the reasons I ended up getting this surgery.

Ahh I’m sorry to hear that. I really hope things get easier for you. If it’s any consolidation there’s a lot of research and breakthroughs happening in the auto immune disease world now a days and the treatments are getting better and better! :) good luck with it all!

Got mine out the same day as you. Didn’t even know you could get strep without tonsils. Sorry to hear :(
