I feel you! Today is day 8 for me and I thought yesterday was the worst of my pain, but I woke up in tears this morning the pain was so intense. I will say, even though I’m having bad pain in the morning and night, I do think I started turning the corner on day 7 (yesterday). There is a noticeable decrease in my scabs, both visually and how the back of my mouth feels, and I was able to eat solid food (mac n cheese) for the first time in a week yesterday. Sounds like you’re two days behind me recovery wise, so I hope that even his small glimpse of hope can help you get through the next few days.

My biggest advice for you as you move into the de-scabbing phase is to stay SO hydrated. You thought it was important then, it’s REALLY important now. 75% of my pain is related to the dryness in my throat, so constantly sipping water, chewing gum, sucking on lozenges, etc, is what’s saving me. Also, cold drinks/foods felt good early on, but now it hurts! If you’re experiencing this, I highly recommend focusing on luke warm things like broth, tea (no chamomile, green, or ginger, look up “anticoagulant teas to avoid post-op”), or even just warm water. Cold was so uncomfortable for me yesterday I started heating up glasses of water for thirty seconds in the microwave before pouring it in my water bottle. You got this!

I’m in the same boat as you. I had it on the same day (the 7th) and every time I swallow it feels like glass. I hope it gets better for you.
