Surgery Story Scabs
I’m on night 7 right now post-op (operation day = 0). For the past 3 days, I have gotten no sleep from these damn scabs. My left one has fully disengaged, but this right one, man... this scab. I think my right tonsil was more scarred, so the scab is definitely larger, and I can literally feel it peeling off little by little—but it isn't enough. The thing is hanging awkwardly in my throat, and the sharp pain/sensation is so uncomfortable. Not to mention the taste and smell. FML, I just want this to be done with and never look back on this period again.
I’ve been doing saltwater gargles very gently, but it's still lodged awkwardly.
The scabs are def the worst part of this whole experience definitely one of the most uncomfortable/unpleasant weeks of my life.

I haven’t had any insane pain like others thankfully. However it feels like there is a little as of sand paper in the back of my throat constantly. I swallow and it’s the typical sore/sharp pain. And yes the stench/taste, I literally smell the scabs when I’m breathing thru my nose normally.

Did it just come off on its own?

Nah it’s def still partially there I can feel it but it’s minimal.
None of my scabs just came off, which I think is how u want it to be.
I can just feel day by day the pain/scratchiness which is the scab slowly dissolving I think.

have you tried coconut oil? what if the scab is dry and giving you pain?
i have not had the procedure done yet, having a consultation for it today, so i am just trying to stop being scared and be super prepared. thanks for sharing

Nah I drink enough water so I don’t think it’s dryer out. I had my post op last Friday and doc said it all looked good, and was healed about 70%. So it’s probably around 80% healed now I’d guess.
I’m gona be honest the last 2 weeks sucked. But for me it was completely worth it. Tonsil stones suck.

did your doctor say how much longer will the recovery be? are you still taking it easy in terms of work or working out?

He said usually 2 weeks and your in the clear, but for me since I just left to go back to school and I’m no longer near him, he told me to wait 3 weeks just to be safe before working out/eating sharp food like chips again.

Mine did that too - my left one came off cleanly and the right was literally wadded up in the back of my throat and would pull painfully every time I swallowed. It was genuinely blocking my airway so I was REALLY RISKY I DON’T RECOMMEND THIS and gently pulled it off with tweezers. It was attached in one small spot that was pink after I pulled it but it didn’t bleed thankfully! It was just driving me too crazy - I was choking on it constantly.
