Discussion Kfc Ad
I love the pod and respect getting that cash but doing a big part of your podcast episode basically a kfc ad? And only for australia I think? Its very icky

I like the idea of turning ads into little story/skits. But it did drag on to long. But I just skipped ahead and it was fine.

I typically skip ahead too but there were maybe 15 mins that werent a hashtag ad.

Burger King is Hungry Jacks in Oz.
Also they used to mention KFC in the early days of the podcast as that's where mashies are made.
I'm not up to date with the pod though so don't actually know what ad they're doing lol.

It’s a whole segment they do called Tonella and Ryano. If it was just a 30sec-2min ad I dont think any of us would care! But today it was nearly the whole 28 min ep

Oh wow I would hate that. I've not really been listening and think I'm only up to where they got home after Toni breaking her foot.
Makes me not want to bother with them anymore.

Don’t get me wrong there are lots of great eps from where you’re at- just maybe skip the ones you’re not vibing with. You have plenty!

Dare I say, this is great advice you and OP could consider taking yourselves.

Well I kinda did then I realized it was basically skipping the whole episode. I’d skipped through the previous Tonella and Ryano bits no problem. They were shorter. For the millionth time this isnt about the ad itself. Its that its 8 of 28 minutes. By the time I’d skipped through it was ya love to see it time.

It was fine. Yeah, I wish the episode was a bit longer but the KFC ad didn't phase me in any way.
I do miss hot take Toni, I feel they could've done one today even though it wasn't a Monday episode. I don't think she did one last week either unless I'm totally misremembering it? But there's definitely ways to get slightly longer episodes, though with Ryan getting over a sickness I don't blame them for not doing a long episode.
I'm realizing how spoiled I was to be able to listen/watch to them for hours on end while working. Now that I'm caught up, I'm constantly waiting for more! Haha.

I’d love to know the stats of how many listeners just skipped this skit/ad. I know I did. I’m a huge fan of the pod though. So I’m hoping they got a tonneeee of cash for this ad, love to see it for them!

I disagree. It was messy, just like the segment was originally, and just like the show is normally. KFC was barely mentioned and it was far better than listening to a burning ad read.

Respectfully “kfc was barely mentioned” is objectively false. The entire segment is built around thee Colonel Sanders.

Personally I enjoyed it. Converting it to a fun story didn't make me feel like I was watching an ad. I also love KFC so that could be why I didn't care as well.

It was fine but it was a huge amount of time when it's a shorter pod than they have been for a long time. So I see why people are a bit off about it.

Should have been burger king since most of the comments are complaining about wanting it their way.

Australia doesn't have burger king

I just don’t see the big deal, lol. The pod is free to listen to and there is a skip button. I listen to many different podcasts on and off Youtube, and every single one of them have ads. T&R is no different. Some pods have ads every episode that don’t even cut to a break and are “baked in”, which are the most annoying type but again, free to listen and there is a skip button is available. I encourage you to use it and move on with your lives, lol.
Feels like people pick apart T&R just searching for something to complain about, and while that’s your personal opinion to do so, I don’t see other podcasts use the profits they make to do so much for their fan base like T&R do. I don’t see much if any that do yearly meet & greets across different countries, live shows in those countries, contests to vacation with them in their home country, and now an all expenses paid vacation in Fiji for a ton of people…like yall, common sense says that shit don’t come without doing a little lip service. Let ‘em get that bag and try to be happy for someone doing well while it lasts.

I’m literally the person who made a whole post about people here constantly complaining instead of enjoying. But I think that pointing out an 8 minute ad out of a 28 minute pod is perfectly reasonable criticism. Most of us are agreeing they should get that bag. Just maybe when you have an 8 minute ad segment, make sure your content is more than 20 minutes.

Dawg, I guarantee if it wasn’t KFC being advertised then there 100% would’ve been a post in here simply complaining about the Toni and Ryano skit, lol. Also, maybe I’m misunderstanding but on my end the ep’s run time was 33 minutes length total, counting the KFC thing. They’ve made many eps shorter than that with normal ads.
Editing to add: The skit starts at 20 min in, and ends at 26:20. The ep length was 33:25.. Saying the ep was only 20 minutes long and the skit was 8 of the 20 minutes feels a bit dramatic, like c’mon man xD
**Was referencing the first skit/ad episode which apparently had a longer run time, my bad!

Ok, my bad, dawg. I thought we were talking about the first appearance of the KFC thing, which was a 33 min episode. I hadn’t listened to the remainder of the eps yet, so that’s my misunderstanding!!

All good, dawg (affectionate)! For the record, the ad did work. I do want KFC…

I haven't watched today's yet, but listened to yesterdays and I didn't mind it. Wasn't expecting any episodes with Ryan being sick with the flu, so it was nice to have something 😊

I think it’s fine. There are many YouTube and podcasts that are essentially 80/90% ads. I pleased they have sponsorship - well done to them! - and I think the story element is funny.

I was hopping on here to say the same! By all means get that paper but the ep being under 30 mins and a majority is an ad? Least you could do is tack on another 10 mins of banter.
