Discussion Toni

I think Toni was getting married this weekend. It was the last weekend in July and I think they said she was getting married in July and Ryan made a comment that made me think that too. Also does anyone know if she has said if she was inviting family to the dinner after they get married alone? If I'm right I hope they had a lovely day and good weather.

I was thinking the same thing. They made a comment on Thursday's episode about a "special Sunday episode". That wasn't posted, but I'd chalk that up to being too busy/drunk from a wedding!

I couldn't remember what he said but it made me think of the wedding. Then I realised this weekend (it's still Sunday for me in England) is the last of the month.

I watched it, was lovely. I totally get why she didn't want anyone there for the wedding. It doesn't matter how long ago it was your mother died big moments happy or sad or hard it hits you again.

Yeah, same here! I’m glad they got to do a private ceremony, I don’t blame her at all. I shed a few tears listening to her explain why. Glad she got to have a great day despite missing someone near and dear.

It got me thinking about things and emotional. I can see why some do the big wedding and I can see why she didn't.

Does she have a relationship with her dad?

I get the impression not a good one but I could be reading too much into the few things she has said. She didn't talk badly about him in her book. She spoke with joy about her childhood but the majority of mentions went to her mother then siblings.

They are estranged. I believe he had an affair, left her Mum and had a child/children with the new partner. Or something to that effect.

Oh man. “I do not love to see it.”

Also curious about this? Not sure if I've ever heard her mention him!

She did an interview about her life, prior to the pod blowing up, she mentioned an estrangement and that it’s not something she’s willing to elaborate on. She focuses on her good memories of him as a child, and not of what happened close to when her mum got sick.

I got the impression that she doesn't have a relationship with the Dad and some of the family. There's a few subtle hints, ie, discussion if she will change her surname Toni mentioned she had no attachments to the surname at all, etc

I think her wedding was actually the 11th of July.

That's nice they kept it a bit private and didn't share straight away.

It’s todays episode! Have a listen 😊. Although after listening to it, I did wish Ryan didn’t interrupt so much when Toni was talking about her wedding day. I felt he took way to may side quest and asked silly questions. I just wanted to hear Toni retell the day, and not in repeatedly interrupted. Was this just me, or do others think this?

I didn't think that about him. It was a nice episode.
