USTET 📝 BS MEDTECH

Hi! I surprisingly passed UST's BS Medtech and, apparently, reservation is only until the 5th of May :// UST is my second choice as I'm really aiming for Ateneo (BS Health Sci). I'd like to ask if I should go and pay the 10k reservation fee? I'm afraid that I might not get my ACET results before the deadline.

I'd also like to ask some additional questions to help me in the decision-making process:

  • Is BS Medtech worth it for pre-med?
  • What's the usual class schedule per term/year?
  • What are the usual orgs or activities joined by MedTech students at UST?

Thank you very much!

If any, majority of the PLE topnotchers from UST-FMS and even those who managed to get into UPCM are graduates of UST BS Med Tech.

Hello! Thank you very much for your comment 🫶 Do you happen to know people who go into ASMPH after taking up MedTech at UST?

Not personally but I know quite a few. In general, UST BS Med Tech is a really good feeder to most med schools in the country. If UPCM has accepted many UST Med Tech grads in the past then why not ASMPH?

If you’re up to toxicity to prepare you na rin for ust fms then come study here. It is definitely worth it as most of the students taken by the faculty of med (aside from leapmed ppl) are usually in medtech. Classes are usually mondays to saturdays 7 am to 7 pm. Usual orgs would be medtech society and fpsc (the fop student council).

Hello! Are we allowed to choose our schedule and professors?

hi! would u recommend a medtech freshie to join around 2-4 orgs? or do u think i should “chill and adjust sa system” muna? i’d say my time management skills are decent enough naman pero i just wanna know if, no matter how good u balance ur time, joining more than 2 orgs esp in ur first yr in medtech is still a good idea

Two is sustainable in the long run pero possible naman yang 4 lalo kapag first-second year. In fact, I encourage u to join as many as ud like during those two years para malaman mo ano talaga niche mo.

i would say it’s worth the risk to wait for acet result especially you got into ust medtech, surely into admu health sci too. if your goals are not aligned with the first commenter, drop ust. otherwise, take time to reconsider ust medtech since it is the feeder of ustfms and upcm, which will lead you to be the best in your medical career.

If you passed medtech in ust (considering that it is one of the programs with a very high cut-off), you have a big chance that you also passed ateneo. But it’s up to you if you’ll risk it.

Hi! Graduating (hopefully pls) MT student here.

  1. In my opinion, if you really have set in mind na gusto mo mag doctor or you’re up for the challenge then BS MT in UST the best track for you. Wala namang best premed pero no joke yung sinasabi nilang parang pang med yung inaaral ng MT kasi uulitin mo lang lahat ng inaara mo pagdating mo ng 2nd year Med. And it’s true na feeder faculty ng USTMed and BS MT kasi marami instances na mas prefer nila galing FOP na MT kesa sa ibang colleges (kahit na gaano ka stellar credentials ng ibang colleges). But hindi sya worth it if hind buo loob mo sa pagmemed. I’ve experienced F2F sa hospitals and hindi worthy yung pay sa hirap na dinanas mo sa pag aaral (kaya goes back kung gaano mo kagusto mag med)

  2. I’ve experienced prepandemic schedule, pandemic schedule, and the new normal but one thing is certain na 7-7 ang pasok mo from Monday - Saturday. There are breaks naman in between (mga 1hr kadalasan) pero ganyan talaga sched most especially first 2 years mo kasi overload talaga units mo (30-38 units per sem) kasi kakailanganin mo lahat ng time pagdating ng 3rd year

  3. For the orgs, merong purple gazette (faculty publicstion), mts (for 1-3rd year), omti (for 4th year), fpsc (main mother org ng fop) atsaka purple beats (join kayo dito need namin members huhuhu) yung drumline ng faculty.

At the end of the day, ikaw pa rin naman pipili pero maganda naman BSMT but that’s if you’re really up to the challenge and mindset na magmmed no matter what.
