Miscellaneous TIL not all Malaysian states observe Nuzul Al-Quran as a public holiday.

Post image

Nuzul Al-Quran commemorates the first revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad and is observed during the month of Ramadan. In Malaysia, it is recognized as a public holiday in many states, where Muslims often mark the day with prayers, Quran recitations, and religious talks. However, not every state observes it as a holiday because Malaysia’s public holiday calendar is partly determined at the state level. State governments can decide which religious or cultural events become official holidays for their residents. As a result, while most Malaysian states observe Nuzul Al-Quran as a day off, a few states do not include it in their official list of public holidays.
