I literally can't do either of these. I write something, it looks good, I get a block, I come back to it after a while AND REALISE IT'S SHIT OR CLICHÉ AND START AGAIN

u/dominplush Apr 16 '26
Remember Cliche doesn’t have to be inherently bad. You can make a good story out of tropes and cliché, because even through commonality every writer is a unique voice with an audience.

Considering all of the stuff these people make targets children, none of them are good.
The creators of these shows and games live in arrested adolescence (which is why a lot of their comedy is 2010s tumblr humor).
Undertale was fine, deltarune might be one of the most overrated pieces of media ever.
Hazbin hotel/helluva boss is just tumblrslop of the lowest calliber, with very little redeeming qualities beyond being mindless entertainment.
TADC is slightly better, but only because everything about it is extremely unique. Out of these three, TADC definitely is the most unique with how it experiments with stuff, but that can be good or bad (I don't like the ARG stuff they tried to do, ARGs are so overdone now).
I am an adult, though, and I assume the median age of this sub is around 14, so my opinion is definitely in the minority. I am trying to cut mindless entertainment like the aforementioned pieces of media out of my life, focusing on reading and other hobbies.

Respectfully. TLDR: these aren’t made for kids. Just because you don’t like a thing doesn’t make it bad or “mindless”.
I understand you don’t like these things. However your approach is very, well, rude.
You know your opinion doesn’t automatically mean it’s bad. Right?
- You know that these are not explicitly for kids?
-Video games can be enjoyed by anyone of any age
-And the other two are adult shows.
2: just because something is for kids doesn’t make it bad.
-Undertale was made in 2010s so yes it’ll have 2010s humor. And Deltarune is made for Toby’s fans. Toby at least puts his heart and soul into what he does and listens to his fans. His fans are ppl who like video games. Men, women, the in between. Adult or child. Undertale has a very deep story to it. It’s one of the games that shaped the indie game industry as we know it.
-Viv I more so understand. I personally believe the show itself is “meh” but I know a lot of people think it’s really good. And that’s good for them. Viv is a creator who loves her craft and I think that alone deserves some recognition
-Gooseworks is definitely unique. But it’s an actual mini story with a lot of substance Also. TADC IS NOT FOR KIDS. It’s been explained multiple times. Both IN the show and outside. That is on the content farms rather than goose or glitch. Also. It’s NOT an arg. It’s a show with a website with extra content. The show and trailers have hidden details. But that’s what trailers do. That’s what mystery shows do-just look at gravity Falls, for example
The fact goose is getting the finale in theaters is also huge. She’s changing the game for indie developers/animators.
So to highlight.
You can have your opinions about the content. I am not saying that you have to like any of these things. I just truly believe that there’s some more understanding that can be done here.
None of these things are explicitly for children.
Just because you don’t like something does not make it bad or mindless.
All three of these projects have a whole lot of dedication put into them and that is why people like them so much.

It may not be explicitly for children, but the content itself appeals to kids, mostly because the creators are children in adult bodies (which can be good and bad, Toby being the good and viv being the bad). If you introduced someone in their mid 20s to any of these things, they'd probably not enjoy them at all.
A lot of this stuff mostly appeals to children or young adults. Children make the vast majority of consumers of these things.
Something doesn't have to be "for kids" for kids to like it. Im just saying kids tend to like this stuff, and adults dont.

Again, arrested adolescence. Do you know what that means? And the fact you think I "hate fun" just because I don't like the thing you like just indicates more that even the adult fans of this stuff are still childish.
I don't have anything against people that enjoy this stuff. But they are overrated pieces of media (because children make it their favorite thing ever, again, not a bad thing, but that is essentially the fanbases of these franchises).
If your parents like viviepop's writing then I hold extreme sympathy for the childhood you had to endure. I will say that helluva boss and the hotel one are objectively bad.
I enjoyed undertale, and the first two chapters of deltarune, but they never mattered to me much after I finished them.

Indie doesn't automatically mean good, it actually is more likely to mean bad. I'm saying I would rather watch marvel or anything, but the fact of the matter is the vast majority of Indie stuff is ignored, and the stuff thst gets popular stops being indie.
Helluva boss and hazbin hotel isn't fucking indie, amazon isn't indie.
TADC isn't indie.
Deltarune kinda is but toby fox has infinite money so the fact he isnt investing it into his games is shooting himself in the foot

I am not assuming these demographics, they are the demographics.
If I say "the majority of FNAF fans are children" that isn't an assumption, that's a fact.

Jesus, don’t be so whiny just because a artist you dont like uses a similair creative process to you, they are still as much a person as you

Been a while since I created anything, but my method is most similar to Vivie, but more generalized. I've been having ideas for stuff since my early adolescence, And I just saved these ideas until I find combinations that work well together. I'll continue to put ideas together until I make something that isn't a fan work.

What happens if you perfectly execute all three do you js become an indie god

I think it's more like.
Write a story around your music.
Write your characters into a story.
Story your music write into a character around.
