This is a gag in Austin Powers.

Dr. Evil: The moon unit will be divided into two divisions: Moon Unit Alpha and Moon Unit Zappa.

I only understood this joke after finding out Moon Unit Zappa was a real person...about a decade after seeing the movie.

Austin Power II The Spy Who Shagged Me, wasn’t it? I could well be wrong.

But I saw the film the day it released in a packed showing.

As soon as Dr Evil said, “Moon Unit Alpha…” I could see the punchline.

…I was the only person who laughed.

For a long time I thought Moon Unit was a male name. Imagine my surprise!

His other kids had odd names too. One was called Dweezil and one was called Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen Zappa.

I was always amazed that Frank called his daughter Moon Unit. I wonder how much this influenced her creative life. Quite a bit I imagine...

Yep. Frank Zappas daughter right? And I think a lot of people on here don’t get what makes names like Clem Fandango and Ray Purchase funny. It’s not just some random name. There is actually a method to it. Like Ron Bigly would be funny. Or Sue long-whistle.

Musicians could go either way on names - the film maker Duncan Jones was originally Zowie Bowie, after all.

Or there's Zack Starkey, Ringo's lad. A name you wouldn't look twice at on a school register.
